The silence was glorious. Picard stared out of the window in his quarters and sighed. To be alone with one’s own thoughts was a wonderful thing. It had been horrific and Jean Luc didn’t know if he would ever forget the sounds of the Collective in his head, leading him to go against everything he had ever believed in; to be the instrument of Earth’s destruction. The thought made him shiver.
Troi had tried to get him to talk to her about his experience but right now he just wanted to be silent, immensely thankful that his crew had managed to separate him from the Borg. Thank God it was over. But it wasn’t over. It would never be over.
The name Locutus would haunt him forever.
