Dear Josh Schwartz,
I'm a little bit dead now.
Thank you.
Love, me.
So nobody died and left their baby with their gay best friend and their other friend's gay brother the sheriff, but.
"The End Isn't Near, It's Here" has all of the things that we knew and loved about The OC from the first season... minus the punching.
Really, once I got past the "six months later" (and not having seen the previous two episodes due to extenuating circumstances) it felt just like any really good episode of the show, with all of the things that I associate with it: the broyay, the Seth/Summer drama, occasional snark, completely outlandish plotlines, a good time had by all.
But then the ending. OMG THE MONTAGE. That was so well-done. I was never really a Ryan girl but Ryannnnnnn. Sandy teaching. Julie graduating. Team Julie. Seth and Summer's wedding. Sophie! Ryan at his job, seeing mini-Ryan.
That reminded me a lot of the Six Feet Under series finale, minus the sadness. I loved the splicing of current and past together. And then the movement into the future. There's, like, a fresh wave of tears from just thinking about it.
Now I need help.
What's the song playing during the Frank's running montage and up through the speakerphone scene? And the song when Sandy's packing with Sophie? And the song at the very end?
I'm pretty sure someone wrote a fic (or possibly a 'verse) featuring Seth and Ryan's sister Sophie who was born when they were 19-20. What is this fic/verse and where can I find it? It may have been Seth/Ryan but it may also have been canon couples of the core four. I really don't remember. But it DOES exist. I remember that Sandy and Kirsten were renewing their vows or went away or something and Seth and Ryan were babysitting her and she was six years old and mischievous and adorable and I need to reread it now that it's essentially canon. I think it's amazing and hilarious that someone totally called it all those years ago-- this would've been written sometime during or after season one or two, as I completely lost interest during season three. Can anyone help me?
And hey... is there a rule that every series finale must contain a wedding and an adorable baby?
