Heroes 1.13 "The Fix" (heroes_meta)
I'm glad that we got to see more Claude in this episode. Are there any Doctor Who & Heroes watches out there? Did anyone else notice the parallels between Claude & The (Ninth) Doctor? Not a lot of faith in human nature, not a lot of patience with people considered to be idiots (Peter, Mickey), kind of manic, prone to changing the subject when the conversation goes in a direction he doesn't like. Please tell me that when Claude did the peer-around-the-door thing, I wasn't the only one to quip at my TV, "Did I mention it also travels in time?" I like Claude's hair much better than The Doctor's, though.
I really used to love her, but now she's starting to get on my nerves. It's more a writing issue than an acting issue. "Every word that comes out of my mouth is a lie and it's breaking my HEART." Sweetie, no one talks like that. Also, ALMOST SIXTEEN? WHAT? THE FUCK? Dear Tim Kring, have you ever BEEN to high school? There's NO WAY a SOPHOMORE would be elected HOMECOMING QUEEN. Meredith's power is basically the awesomest thing ever. And it explains the whole not!dying in a massive fire thing, although how Claire was rescued remains to be seen, I suppose. Perhaps HRG came to capture Meredith and instead of letting herself be captured, torched the place? I'm guessing this would've occurred before HRG found the Haitian, so there wouldn't be that power-damping ability. Also, how do the Haitian's power-damping and memory-wiping abilities relate? Or does he have two different abilities?
As for Claire's father... All I have to say is, there better be a *ton* of forearm picspams of all of the show's white male characters when I wake up tomorrow, preferably including watches, with a sample cap of the one from next week's previews. Based on size, hairiness, and shirt type/color, I'm guessing it's Nathan.
That makes me kind of sad... but at the same time, 'shipping Peter/Claire is less appealing now that they're not actually *around* each other. I mean, they had really good chemistry, but now they're not onscreen together. And now that Claire is apparently an extra tiny youngling, I can only ship them in a future-y context-- like 2+ years in the future.
Anyway, I'm definitely coming around to Nathan... and I kind of want to read some Nathan/Mohinder RIGHT NOW, because they had a HOT dynamic going on. Mohinder was amazing, with the whole Jedi-mind-tricking Nathan into helping him find Peter because if Mohinder finds Peter he can stop Nathan from being able to fly. The way he set that up was just genius. And Nathan's politiciany "eh?" face when he pulled the crazy card on Peter? WINS. FOREVER. I can't decide whether I love or hate Adrian Pasdar's voice, but either way, that FACE. Just. AWESOME. WHERE is the Nathan/Peter/Mohinder? Allie? Kate? Somebody?
Speaking of faces, I love that we saw a tiny glimpse of future!Hiro in present!Hiro's face when he was staring down the henchman in the van and doing his bit about not surrendering. That was great, considering the overall lack of development the Hiro plotline saw this week. Sword, now, please.
One thing I will say is that I am glad that Sylar is not really dead, even though my dad (who had only seen about half an episode before this, might I add) totally called the whole body-on-the-table-switcheroo. Can someone please tell me what the hell that white thing in the back of Sylar's head was? Please?
I'm really glad that they're apparently going to deal with the whole Peter not!blowing!up thing next week. I'm also glad that Isaac and Simone are apparently getting back together, because if Peter and Claire would get back in the same room for like a second, I think I'd totally start 'shipping them hardcore again. Plus, Simone and Isaac both bother me.
Matt and Janice, DL and Niki... nothing much to say there, really. Janice... meh. Much like DL, and Pasdar's voice, I can't decide whether I like her or not. At the beginning of the episode I was all, "Janice, yay!" but I think it was mostly out of sympathy for Matt. Oh, Grunberg.
Finally. Did anyone else notice that THE HAITIAN HAS THAT SYMBOL ON A NECKLACE? You know, *that* symbol, on the handle of the sword and the cover of Chandra's book and in the algorithm on the computer, etc. He was wearing it when he met with Claire under the rusty red structure of constantly being jumped off (what is it?). You couldn't see all of it but it was peeking out all sexily from under his shirt (dude, where is all of the Haitian porn? He could totally have hot sex with everybody and then make them forget it. How fucked up. Like Captain Jack Harkness and retcon!) and you could sort of see the left part of it on the top and then the little sticky-outy bits at the bottom. THE PLOT THICKENS, dun dun dun.
