College is going fabulously...even though I've been wearing the same jeans SEVEN DAYS IN A ROW...
Funny story, but this one will probably only be appreciated by my fellow journalism geeks--
I applied for the college newspaper staff two weeks ago today, as I've been considering switching my major from broadcast journalism to print, and I haven't heard back from them. I'm not necessarly so upset that I didn't get hired, I can live with that, but I met a guy at lunch the other day who WALKED INTO THE STAFF MEETING AND GOT HIRED. WITHOUT APPLYING.
Now, days later...
As I sit in my new friends Annie and Taryn's room I find out that this supposed "journalism major" is having Taryn interview her brother FOR HIS STORY about videogame addiction. Oh, and her brother doesn't go to the University of Montana. Oh, and he doesn't lived in Missoula, let alone Montana. Now she's relaying his paraphrased anwsers to this journalism major so he can QUOTE IT IN HIS STORY!!!
So here I am, a Free Spirit Scholar, with two years as a professional journalist under my belt, with my life degraded to complaining about the incompetencies of lesser prospective journalists.
I've been attending Griz football games, wandering downtown for raspberry croissont sundaes, going to HEMP FEST, partying like a bitch, and scaring my roommate with my performances, complete with singing and dancing, of Rent, the musical.
The highlight of the college experience has been sharing stories with my dear friend Annie in the grass on campus. The lowlight is when she tried SO HARD to clean my new white UM hat, but the bleach ended up discoloring the pure, innocent white exterior of my former hat.
So, how is college treating you? Stories in comments, please.
