in the last two days ive watched two music documentaries: DIG!, about the dandy warhols and the brian jonestown massacre, and "I Am Trying To Break Your Heart", about wilco and the recording/initial-non-release of yankee hotel foxtrot. theyre both really interesting movies, but the sheer scope of the time involved in the filming of DIG! gives it a much more intimate look into the lives of the band. the wilco movie really feels like only select bits were filmed, then the story was cobbled together, rather than masses of extant footage being culled down into a narrative.
still, wilco being one of my favourite bands, i enjoyed every minute of it. and i'll be getting some brian jonestown massacre stuff shortly. that anton guy is an insane genius.
i might not be able to play at blackstump. the new store im working at is opening on the very weekend of stump, so the chances of me getting away are very slim. possibly a change to late night might be in the offing, but might not happen as i just made that up.
please, please, listen to sufjan stevens' "come on feel the illinoise" if you havent already done so.
