the apartment full of male chinese students next door are all yelling at each other VERY loudly, and then singing, and then cheering for minutes on end. to top it off, there's a horrific subwoofer boom coming through my wall, vibrating the living essence out of anything in its path, including my head. these are the most inconsiderate neighbours i have ever had the misfortune of living near, and that takes into account the next door guys at west end that dried fish in their backyard every weekend. im { this } close to going all chuck norris on their sorry asses.
i just bought a douglas coupland book. i think i did my dough. its not that great. i was totally tuned out in the bookstore, the guy had to wave his hand in front of my face to tell me the store was closing. then i bought some noodles at the dodgy noodle shop and the guy there had to do the same thing to get my attention. i think im tired.
so heres whats happening: the second one of our shops opens next week, on like thursday. im going to be managing the current store, and stef (the other guy) will be managing the new store. we dont have quite enough staff at the moment to run both stores, but hopefully we will by thursday. its woefully difficult to find good staff here. could have something to do with being in the city, but apparently the problem is widespread. low unemployment isnt a good thing for employers looking for staff. and several of the ones we have found are pathetic, just dont want to work. its interesting. and then theres this one guy in his late 20's who exhibits all the hallmarks of post-traumatic-stress-disorder, but hes way too young to have been in 'nam, and i dont think nz went to gulf war 1. he cant follow the simplest instructions, he turns to water at the thought of having to make more than 2 drinks in a row and cant focus on anything for more than 2 minutes at a stretch. then theres the 19 year old guy who goes around telling all the junior girls how hes earning more money than them. kiwis.
