So, I was about to see if I could buy a lottery ticket online for my mom for New Year's. I thought I should check my credit card first. The top line in my online banking was something called "Reservation Rewards". I'd never really noticed it before. The charge was $12.00 per month. I guess I just figured that it was an RBC Visa monthly charge. Since I wanted to know what I was being billed for, I used my favourite word relating to the internet and "googled"
Reservation Rewards. Wasn't I shocked when I found out it is an auto-subscription service that people unwillingly get involved with by buying stuff online at places like Expedia, Fandango, Allposters, and EBGames. For more info, I found this page useful:
http://www.cs.toronto.edu/~jenn/reservationRewards.html Anyway, I called Visa. They told me I've been billed monthly since December 20, 2006. I have no idea who signed me up, but I'm mad as Hell. The way I see it, I'm going to be calling them and demanding a total refund of $156, which is the total amount they have billed me over the past year. Apparently they help prevent credit card fraud and theft. Bullshit. They are credit card fraud. Anyway, Visa is refusing to help me any further back than October 27, meaning I'm getting $24 of my $156 back anyway. I urge everyone to check their credit card and raise Hell.
I can't wait until they damned holidays are over so I can call them up and tell them off right nice and well.
**UPDATE**
It turns out that Tiger Direct signed me up. Everyone check your statements for Reservation Rewards.
I'm getting it all back. I called them up and said 3 times that I wanted a full refund. On the third time they checked my account and said that I would get a refund of 13 payments of $12.00 within the next 3 business days. Just be firm and don't give them your credit card number. They already have it. They don't need it. You can get your money back, so don't back down.
