TIBBETTS, Marjorie Elizabeth - 85, Bear River, passed away peacefully Thursday, November 8, 2007, in Digby General Hospital. Born in Hill Grove, Digby Co., she was a daughter of the late Curtis and Laura Belle (Savary) Porter.
Marjorie was a teacher for 36 years at many schools throughout the valley and loved all her students. She taught Sunday school at Bear River United Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Bear River Historical Society, Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary and Bear River New Horizons. She loved to socialize with everyone and especially enjoyed scrabble and doing jigsaw puzzles.
Marjorie is survived by her son, Curtis (Linda), and daughter, Eva. She was much loved by her grandchildren, Pam, Joy and David. Also surviving are her sisters, Mary Gidney and Audrey (Carlton) Conrad; brother, Dean (Eva) Porter, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, John Tibbetts; son, David; brothers, Earle, Roy, Gordon, and Gerald. She will be sadly missed by Christie Kaulback, and all who knew her.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today in Jayne's Funeral Home, 7 Birch St., Digby. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Bear River United Baptist Church, Dr. George Allen and Rev. Don Scheel officiating. Interment in Mount Hope Cemetery, Bear River. Reception to follow in the church vestry. Donations can be made to a charity of choice.
