Summary: my version of the story of Callie and Arizona, as told in fifty sentences, for the 1sentence community.

Drink

Callie takes another shot of tequila, wondering how she got here, so alone and so celibate, and curses Erica again for disappearing into the parking lot.

Memory

Callie never would've guessed that one kiss could be so powerful, but when those lips press so softly to hers in the dim light of the women's restroom, the memories of Erica and George and betrayal and abandonment slip from her mind entirely, replaced with images of blonde curls, sparkling blue eyes and mesmerizing dimples.

Fire

It's only the first date, but the appreciation shining in Arizona's eyes when the blonde first catches sight of her makes Callie feel like she's on fire.

Laugh

The fact that Arizona brings out her laughter more than anyone else ever has isn't lost on Callie; every time she's with the blonde, things seem so easy, so carefree, so incredibly perfect.

Dance

Most of the time, they dance around to fast music- salsa, hip-hop, disco- but on occasion, Callie puts on a slow song, takes Arizona's hand in her own and pulls her close, letting their bodies sway gently to the music.

Journey

It takes a while for Arizona to really open up to her, but once she starts, Callie knows that it's only a matter of time before she falls head over heels in love with this amazing woman.

Silk

Callie's hand lingers on Arizona's hip, stroking the blonde's blue satin dress, and briefly wonders how much longer their clothes will stay on- two minutes, three maybe; tonight is definitely going to be their night.

Body

The first time they make love, Arizona lets her lips linger on a soft spot just underneath Calliope's left breast, marking it eternally as her spot on that perfect canvas of skin.

Farewells

The morning after, a simple goodbye kiss quickly turns into round five of mind-blowing orgasms, neither woman caring that they're going to be late to work.

Whisper

"I love you," she whispers to Arizona's sleeping form like she does every night, then gives a silent prayer that maybe tomorrow she'll find the courage to say those words to Arizona when the blonde isn't fast asleep.

Candle

In between hours-long surgeries on her most hectic day in months, Callie lets herself be dragged off to an on call room; she kisses Arizona hard before she blows out the flame on the chocolate cupcake, wishing for a thousand more birthdays with Arizona at her side.

Formal

When the word 'girlfriend' rolls so easily off of Calliope's tongue, Arizona can't help but do a little happy dance in her head; later, she's going to have to clarify their situation just so she can hear that word again.

View

Callie rests her head on Arizona's shoulder, taking in the sight of the city before her, and says softly, "thank you for kissing me in the dirty bar bathroom."

Temptation

Arizona really isn't one to have sex on hospital property or during a shift, but when Calliope's eyebrow arches suggestively, she thinks she'll make an exception- but just this once.

Lock

Arizona stares at the piece of metal that Calliope gave her that morning, knowing that it's only a key to a lock of a door but feeling like it's so much more than that.

Hurricane

Even though Callie's terrified by the idea of her father never accepting her for who she really is, she knows that Arizona will be enough to get her through anything that comes her way.

Hero

She doesn't know what was said between her father and Arizona, but when Callie goes home to her girlfriend, she holds her tightly, knowing no words can express how grateful she is.

Midnight

Their first Christmas together starts at the hospital, curled up in a bed in an on call room; Arizona kisses the crown of Calliope's head then whispers "Merry Christmas" to her sleeping girlfriend.

Fever

Once Calliope is over the chicken pox and out of the hospital, Arizona takes her home and makes up for the fact that she stopped their steamy make-out session in the on call room.

Music

Arizona's heart swells as she enters the apartment, Calliope's melodic voice reaching her ears as she watches her girlfriend dance around the living room uninhibited.

Sacred

Arizona doesn't know if she really believes in a God or a Heaven or an afterlife, but on the anniversary of her brother's death, she asks Calliope to go with her to church.

Strength

Arizona doesn't question it when the donuts stop helping her through the darkest days; one hug from Calliope is worth more than all of the donuts in Seattle.

Talent

Callie's head pushes back into the pillow, fingers clutching the sheets tightly, a groan making its way from between her lips as Arizona once again brings her to the brink in only the way Arizona knows how to.

Mask

Callie does her best to put on a brave face that night, but when the light of her bedroom goes off, she lays awake staring at Arizona's back, wondering how the blonde couldn't want children with her.

Silence

The moments after Arizona's hand is pulled from her grip, Callie wonders how she can feel so alone with the blonde sitting so close; for the first time in a long time, their future doesn't look so clear.

Eclipse

Arizona steals a glance at Calliope from across the E.R., watching as her girlfriend brushes a stray hair from her face, and wonders how anyone can be so beautiful, so incredibly breathtaking.

Dream

Ignoring the twisting in her stomach, Callie watches Arizona feeding the newborn, and briefly lets herself pretend that it's their own child nestled in Arizona's arms.

Forgotten

Callie stares at the indentation on Arizona's pillow, wanting so much to call the blonde, to tell her to forget about the baby thing entirely and come back home to her.

Box

The boxes remain untouched in a corner of Arizona's bedroom for weeks; she almost has herself convinced that the break up with Calliope will work itself out and soon she'll be able to take them back to the place she now thinks of as home.

Search

Every time she enters a room at the hospital, Arizona's eyes automatically look for that long mane of jet black hair, hoping for just one glimpse of Calliope's dark eyes and breathtaking smile so that for at least a moment, she can forget that they're not together anymore.

Cold

His eyes bore into her, gun clenched tightly in his hand, but all Callie can think about is that super magic smile and saving the love of her life from experiencing any pain, even if it winds up costing her everything.

Breathe

When they first come apart for air, one word sticks in Arizona's mind- home; she kisses Calliope again, finally letting herself give in to the thoughts of a home with ten kids and her Calliope for the rest of her life.

Run

Callie turns the corner, back towards her apartment- their apartment- and smiles realizing Arizona should be home by now- their home.

Ice

Goosebumps form on Arizona's stomach, along the path that Calliope drags the ice cube, sending shivers down her spine.

Lies

When Calliope refuses to back down, Arizona comes up with the most plausible reason for buying airplane tickets- going to her parents' for a quick visit- not wanting to spoil the surprise trip to Fiji for Calliope's birthday.

Cover

In the middle of doing the dishes, Arizona freezes when two hands cover her eyes; a moment later, she melts back into Callie's body, letting the Latina cover her neck with kisses.

Ring

Arizona plays with her necklace absentmindedly, her mind wandering to that day in her future when the jewelry that ties her to Calliope is instead a diamond ring on her left hand.

Fall

"It's just a sprain," Arizona tells her, but Callie insists on checking every square inch of Arizona's ankle to make sure that it's not something more; the rational side of her brain tells her that Arizona isn't going to die just because of a twisted ankle.

Red

Arizona can't tear her eyes away from the roses that Calliope brought home for her earlier that afternoon; it wasn't a special day- Calliope simply wanted to make her smile.

Unknown

When they reach ten thousand feet, Arizona looks out to the clouds below, obstructing her view of Seattle; she's completely unsure of what she just did, but knows that Calliope wouldn't have ever been happy in Malawi.

World

Callie still can't figure out how she got here, her Arizona now a half a world away; replaying the scene in the airport over and over again in her head, she momentarily lets herself think that Arizona will come back to her.

Wait

After returning from Africa, Arizona knows she has to let Calliope work through everything in her own way and her own time; she'll wait forever for Calliope if she has to.

Promise

Arizona really is all in- she's up for whatever the future holds with Calliope and this baby- but somewhere, deep in the back of her mind, she can't help but wish this were all happening under different circumstances.

Wings

Callie listens in confusion as Arizona says that she knows that it's early and the baby's still not due for months and that she should be able to control herself better than this, but she couldn't help herself; when Callie's eyes land on the onesie in Arizona's hands, tears cloud her vision as she realizes that Arizona really is committed to raising this baby with her.

Gravity

Arizona marvels at how no matter what obstacles come their way, she and Calliope always manage to find the path back to one another; her hand rubbing gently over the baby bump as Calliope sleeps, she silently prays that their future together- all three of them- will be filled with peace.

Highway

Holding Calliope's hand tightly, Arizona curses herself again for taking her eyes off of the road, especially with Calliope's and the baby's lives in her hands; she's certain that she'll carry this guilt around with her until the day that she dies.

Talk

The words were low and coarse, but as Calliope accepts her marriage proposal from her hospital bed, Arizona can't help but be awestruck by just how beautiful that voice sounds to her ears.

Hope

From the door of the NICU at a quarter past midnight, Callie watches Arizona stroke Sofia's stomach gently and smiles; for so many nights she never thought she would have both Arizona and a baby, but now that she does, she can't imagine a more perfect future than the life she's planning on building with both of her girls.

Overwhelmed

It's the biggest day of her life- of their lives- and the nerves running through her entire body won't let Callie forget it; but when her eyes lock on Arizona's, waiting for her down the aisle, clarity fills her mind, and she's completely certain of what she's about to do.

Forever

Silently watching Calliope rock the baby back to sleep, Arizona wonders how she could've ever thought of passing up the chance to have this life and this future with this woman.
