Oh my god, why don't I have any sense of urgency?

I have four pieces of work due early this week, and have done barely any of it. The best solution is obviously to complete a meme.

Stolen from all over the place:

Pick your five all-time favourite pieces of fic, the ones which made you laugh or cry or kicked you in the guts, that became your personal canon, that inspired you to offer the author internets and first born sons, and tell us why you loved them. Any fandom, any pairing, any genre - the only requirement is they stood out from the crowd. Also, links or it didn't happen.

Do I Twist, Do I Fold? by rosa_acicularis: I think it says a lot that this is probably my favourite fic ever without containing lots of Doctor/Rose. There's really little I can say about this that will do it justice - "The Doctor sends Rose to buy pizza and it doesn't go according to plan" is miserably inadequate, but I wouldn't want to spoil it. There are dark bits and funny bits and sad bits and the whole thing is so clever - I'm so jealous that I will never be able to produce something like this, but seriously, read it.

Certificate of Cuteness by shinyopals: In which the Doctor and Rose are so damn adorable that their cuteness is used to reboot a failing spaceship. shinyopals writes brilliant fluff, but look at that again: They are so cute they can make a spaceship run off it. It doesn't get much sweeter than that, and it's probably not an inaccurate description of how awesome they are. As such, this is often one of the first fics I turn to when I need a fluff fix. Bonus points for Donna, too.

In Bruises and Feathers by earlgreytea68: Part of the best babyfic series I've ever read, the brilliant Chaosverse, any part of which I could have listed here. This one stands out to me because a) it's the first part I read, and b) it's a Twilight crossover that works. I don't make a secret of my dislike for Twilight, and to have a fic that is well-written and that criticises the series without descending into gratuitous bashing while making a thoughtful comment on the Doctor and Rose's relationship is great.

The Gift of Sleep by imaginary_iby: Iby is another writer who does "The Doctor and Rose are adorable muppets" really, really well. This fic is another of my fluff staples - the Doctor is scared to go to sleep in case Rose disappears again, and Rose helps him through it. It gets across perfectly the fact that the Doctor's being a bit silly but also that it's a very genuine fear for him, and the image of him falling asleep listening to her heart beating is one of the most romantic I've ever seen in a fic.

Tea Time by orange_crushed: Words can't describe how much I adore this fic (and the one before and the one after). The Doctor, Rose and the Master all travel together on the TARDIS; the Doctor and the Master spend their time squabbling, Rose spends her time kicking both their arses into gear and the whole thing is so awesome that absolutely no explanations are required for how they all came to be there. It doesn't hurt that it's excellently written, either.
