J'adore Paris, un petite update

Aug 17, 2004 10:38

People ask how was Paris, and I quickly say it was amazing, because it was, but also because thats all they want to hear. Everytime I go off on a little parisian tangent I feel like I'm wasting their time, but whateves its fine, there are some that will let me talk my little head off, knowing it is a rarity for me to do so.

The best way that I could sum up my experience is...strangely awesome. Everyday I'd wake up in the hotel room tell Laura to go pee so I could take a shower, go in and notice that the faucet's said hot and cold in french but shake that off, get ready for the day; then when I stepped outside I'd go, oh yeah I'm in paris (all in my head of course). Then we'd walk to a cafe on Champs Elysees and I'd hear only french, and it was such a culture shock, I felt to aware of my American self.

All the sites we saw were inspiring, everything was so impressive and old, I felt so fortunate to see them. The food was good and bad, mostly good. Drinks were ridiculously overpriced. Shopping was hard until we found Lafayette. I left paris with souveneirs for people, sexy french underwear, a freakin cute purse and about 2,72 euros and, to quote the best cheeseball song ever, "something in my pocket that belongs across my face."

Oh yeah also just a quick thank you to those guys that sent me a little birthday surprise in the mail and via voicemail, they all made me smile.

So I hope everyone is doing well, I need to see you before I leave on saturday, lets make that shit happen. Love you.
