NEPHEW DUE TOMORROW! YAY!

Sep 29, 2004 13:57

I didn't tell a lot of you because it never came to mind, but my brother's girlfriend has been pregnant for the last nine and half months or so. The doctors are going to put her out of her misery and induce labor tomorrow, so sometime very soon I'll have nephew numero dos. Though I would like to be one of the firsts to see my nephew, I won't be there for the whole bloody and painful delivery. (She doesn't want an epidural! :O) Instead of going to the hospital, I'm going to be watching my six-year-old nephew Sebastian during it all. Should be fun!

And I decided in honor of my soon to be baby nephew that I'd make a compilation of a bunch of good covers because even though he isn't my first nephew, he's still very awesome. <3 So, the songs:

Dinosaur Jr. - Just Like Heaven (This is a live cover of a Cure song. I'm a pretty big fan of The Cure, but I like DJ's take on the song more. Probably because their shredder was a million times better than whoever Cure had.)
Husker Du - Sunshine Superman (Donovan did it first. Husker Du did it later. One day I'll learn how to make those funky accent marks, but until then I'll just call them Husker Du. :P This is another cover that I like better than the original.)
Nirvana - The Man Who Sold the World (It's a David Bowie song and Nirvana did a mind boggingly awesome cover of it. I really love this version. It was performed live, so you can hear Kurt, Dave, and Krist talking after they finish the song. :X)
Probot - Have A Cigar (I hate Pink Floyd so much. I can't pinpoint why exactly. I just do. Them and Christopher Lambert fill me with this dark, unhealthy rage. 8-X However, I love Probot and Dave Grohl to death. And when they covered a Pink Floyd song, I kept my rage in check and listened to it and, lo and behold, it was great.)
Sid Vicious - My Way (Sid Vicious is singing a Frank Sinatra song. What more must I say to make you download this if you haven't done so already?)
Sonic Youth - I Wanna Be Your Dog (This cover was on Sonic Youth's first record, I believe. Its sound quality isn't the best, but I still really like this cover of Iggy and the Stooges' song.)
