Ninth Rising Dragon [Voice]

Two. I don't get it.

[There's a long pause.]

Neji, train with me? I'm not taking no for an answer.

Just so everyone in the house knows, breakfast is probably on your own in the morning. I don't think we'll have time to prepare things.

daddy tenten, training, gai

....[He doesn't really feel up to training, but he can understand Tenten's drive to. A sigh escapes over the PCD]

We still have Naruto's birthday to prepare for the 10th, but I'm sure a bit of training won't delay things. When would you like, Tenten?

Tonight? That's why I said breakfast wouldn't be fixed.

[A pause as he considers that she's probably asking now]

...That's fine then. Do you have anywhere specific in mind?

[He knows her as well as she knows him.]

There's the place where we found him. It's got a lot of cover and could be good.

[As promised, he arrives a little later by about ten minutes; it's obvious he didn't rush to get there by his steady walk and he doesn't really look apologetic- just kind of unmotivated. He nods in greeting as he approaches, ducking under a low tree branch, and comes to stand a respectable distance from her]

I apologize for keeping you waiting, Tenten.

[She knows he's not going to show a lot of emotion. That's not his thing. She nods back when he gets there, and flips one of the kunai she'd been holding.]

It's fine, Neji. I just... We're down. But we're still a team. So we need to just work harder.

[He bites back an undeserved retort that 'working harder' isn't going to get them anywhere closer to home nor bring anyone back because sometimes he's still bitter that Lee's beloved philosophy isn't flawless and just because he's stopped blaming everything on Fate doesn't mean he believes anything can be accomplished through hard work. He still sort of wishes it was true though.]

[Instead he nods again and his chakra swirls around him defensively.]

Understood, Tenten. Would you prefer to set any rules in place aside from the obvious?

[The no-killing rule, but neither of them had that intention from the start, he's sure.]

[Hard work has gotten her this far. Maybe it doesn't solve everything. Maybe the two loudest proponents of it are gone, back home, probably being loud. That doesn't change that she has to do something.}

My... no. We'll stick with the obvious, I think.

[She'd almost asked him to avoid her lung, but if she had weaknesses in real battle, the enemies would go for them. There was no need for special consideration. Though Tsunade-sama might kill her.

Tenten shifts to a ready position.]

Ready when you are.

[He's reminded as soon as he activates his Byakugan anyway, and he'll be mindful of it so long as she doesn't dodge at an odd angle and cause injury to herself- in which case he'll rush her back home and wake Tsunade up through any means necessary.]

[Then as soon as he sees she's ready to begin, his fingers curl into a small number of shuriken, whipping them across the distance between them and using them as cover as he rushes to get in range to attack with her Taijutsu. He doesn't expect he'll be able to press the advantage so easily, but their fighting styles were severely different, after all.]

[She's hoping she won't be so injured that she needs patching up; that wouldn't go over well. But she needs to push herself right now.]

[Tenten leaps into the air, knocking the shuriken away with a pair of chained blades. He's a close-range fighter, but she's at her best long-range. Taking to the branches, Tenten whips out her scroll, summoning what she's found in the city and flinging the assortment at him.]
