Maybe We Don't Want to be Found
Every so often, Poland and Lithuania’s boss realizes that his two nations haven’t been seen for some time. At first, this sent the poor king into a panic-one doesn’t simply loose countries, after all-but now he’s grown used to it. They haven’t been captured or caught, as he originally supposed-they go off by themselves because they chose to, because when you’re a nation, even if you’re married, its very hard to find time alone with the person you love.
The grass is damp against Poland’s back as he gazes up into his husband’s face. Lithuania is seated on a tree stump; the two of them are in the middle of a small clearing, in a forest just outside of the main castle. Poland reaches up to grip Lithuania’s hand, and for a moment they are content, simply smiling and holding hands.
After a moment, Poland lets out a small laugh.
Lithuania tilts his head to one side. “What is it?”
Poland chuckles. “I knew this would be a great idea-you should have listened to me sooner, Liet.”
“Sneaking out of the castle?” Lithuania asks ruefully.
“No, silly-like, getting married. Now we can always be together, y’know?”
“You’re right,” Lithuania murmurs, though his bright green eyes shine with happiness. “It was a great idea.”
“Of course,” Poland asserts, giggling. “When are you going to learn, Liet, that, like, all my ideas are good?”
Lithuania’s response is a swift kiss on his partner’s cheek. Poland blushes, for a moment, before grabbing Lithuania’s arm and pulling him back down, on top of him in the grass.
“Okay,” he concedes, “sometimes you have good ideas, too.”
