The Aoe family invited Izumi and Takamiya to join them for an afternoon tea in the Mansion. The tea was served in Kiichi’s study room. While Izumi, Naoya, and Kiichi sat around the table, Reiji sat on the recliner with the day’s newspaper on his hand. Takamiya had gone to take a call outside.
Kiichi: I am bored. Let’s play a game.
The young boys perked up at the invitation.
Kiichi: It’s called “Ten Questions”. You are allowed to ask ten questions to find out the noun I am thinking of and all I can say is either a “Yes”, “No” or “Maybe”. Understood?”
They nodded.
Naoya: I’ll start. Is it alive?
Kiichi: Yes
Naoya: Is it an animal?
Kiichi: Yes
Reiji lowered his paper and glanced at Kiichi. The older brother was snickering like a ten-year old who could not wait to tell his secret.
He’s up to something again.
Izumi: Is it a bird?
Kiichi: Yes
He’s not going to make an obscene joke in front of them, is he?
Reiji looked up again and found his brother winking at him.
Naoya: Is it nocturnal?
Kiichi: Nope. It’s very alive in the morning. Ooops. Sorry..go on.
Reiji folded his paper and glared at his brother who is now smiling from ear to ear.
Kiichi: Come on. Ask me more.
Izumi: Hmm…let’s see. It’s a bird. What color is it?
Kiichi raised an eyebrow.
Izumi: Oh, let me rephrase that. Is it red?
Kiichi: Yes. Well…maybe.
Reiji: Kiichi
Kiichi: Nope. Wrong guess. I am not a bird. 4 questions left.
Naoya: Hmm..a red bird. A red bird?
It was an innocent ponder. In fact, Naoya was talking to himself so innocently that Reiji felt like killing Kiichi.
Naoya: Is it big?
Kiichi: Compared to what?
Reiji: Your decency?
Kiichi lifted an eyebrow and looked at his brother, unaffected.
Kiichi: Invalid question. 1 question penalty. 3 left.
Naoya: Compare to say my palm?
Kiichi: No. Bigger. Way bigger, dear.
Reiji: Kiichi…
Kiichi: Yes? I’ve already told you that’s the wrong answer. 1 question left, which mean you have to make your guess!
Izumi: Alright, so it’s a bird. Big and maybe red. It’s active in the morning.
Takamiya walked into the room in time to hear his lover's list.
Takamiya: Good god, Izumi. What were you talking about?
Izumi looked at his lover, confused. Suddenly his face went red.
Izumi: Sensei, I am not playing anymore.
Kiichi: Wrong, that’s the wrong answer. Naoya-kun?
Reiji: Naoya, let’s go home.
Kiichi: Party-pooper, let Naoya finish the game will you?
Takamiya: Hmm….turkey?
Kiichi: No. Remember, it has the Red part.
Naoya: Oh I know! It’s a cock!
Izumi: NAOYA!
Kiichi: Yeay! That’s right!
Naoya: What?
They had been driving for five minutes when Reiji noticed that Naoya’s face suddenly turned bright red. Clenching his fists on the steering wheel, he swore to give his brother a piece of his mind when they got back home.
