Having read the first Shingeki no Kyojin tankoubon, I checked out the anime. It's either Production IG or Madhouse for this type of series, and I'm still annoyed with Madhouse re: Supernatural anime. (Maybe I shouldn't be. Maybe they did have too little budget. Anyway.) The SnK anime is no less gripping, if less graphic, than the manga. Kaji Yuuki sounds like Ogata Megumi as Ikari Shinji, all raw emotion all the time. I watched episodes 1-2 and expect episode 4 to end at the same point volume 1 does.
Gin no Saji/Silver Spoon: Enjoyed it more than reading the manga, thanks to Kimura Ryouhei's Hachigen. While I may never become too fond of Arakawa Hiromu's idea of slice-of-life, I love how she loves the subject matter. Cows. Fresh eggs. Casually beheaded chickens! And for not making a fat girl character the butt of jokes.
My August begins with heaps of anime and manga, yeah. Now if only I can get my hands on copies of the Nurarihyon no Mago anime, since watching it online would be too much of a hassle.
