Saint Seiya The Lost Canvas, Degel Gaiden: I got the volume from
access_identity today. Being me, as soon as I held the volume in my hand, I started whining to her about how the next volume is out today, I want it, want it, waahh. /not exaggerating
Summary: 17-year-old (d'aww) Degel receives a letter from his master, Crest, containing only the words "help me." With Seraphina, Degel attends the birthday party of a woman named Garnet, where he hopes to find Crest. Fluorite, the young person guest character in this gaiden, works in Garnet's mansion in the hope of finding her missing father.
A woman named Flaille bursts into the party, accusing Garnet of killing her husband. Garnet's men, the five Jewels, promptly get rid of the soldiers Flaille brings with her. Degel escorts Seraphina out, assuring her that it's all right for him to stay at Garnet's mansion. In his room, Degel is attacked by Flint, one of the Jewels. Degel puts on the Aquarius Cloth and Flint is gone.
Fluorite shows Degel a locked gate, behind which is a library. There Degel finds Koh-i-Noor, one of the Jewels, aka Crest turned young again. By remaining eternally young, he says, he has a chance of creating a peaceful world. Before he leaves, Crest shows Degel a lock of Seraphina's hair, meaning she's been captured by Garnet. Two of the other Jewels, Tourmaline and Chalcedony, launch a joint attack on Degel, which he repels with Diamond Dust. Captured Seraphina, on waking up, sees Garnet suck the life out of Cornelian, the remaining Jewel.
Fluorite stumbles into an underground chamber where dead people are frozen inside jewels, and her father is among them. After Degel encourages her to continue her father's story, he walks on to meet Crest and Garnet. In short, Degel gets frozen inside an ice coffin, breaks free, and retaliates.
200 years ago, Garnet says, she discovers the Garnet's Vouivre; using it, she stays young by stealing other people's lives. Only Krest sympathizes with her method of preserving peace. By luring Degel into the villa, they want to tell him about their view of peace. Then she and Crest return to being frozen inside ice.
Degel carries Seraphina out of the villa, and outside they meet Fluorite and Flaille. Noticing that Degel can't see her clearly, Fluorite hands over her father's glasses for him to use. You've already heard about how Degel heals Kardia's fever and Kardia pinches Sasha's cheeks.
Degel in period clothing for two and a half chapters asdfghjkl; I can't, I can't.
What's with that close-up shot of Crest's bare thighs LOLLL Teshirogi.
Dear Gold Saints, stop scooping little girls up into your arms and running away with them. On second thought, don't.
"Maid-san." Hahahahehehehohoho. (cough) I mean, how gallant.
Didn't glasses need prescription back then?
amamiyarin took a picture of me with the Gaiden, then I realized, once again, I really shouldn't smile in pictures.
. Since "milo" means apple in Greek, only Kardia is allowed to eat it in canon, or readers will start thinking about self-cannibalism. /Eve's logic
Degel telling Kardia to eat apples because it's healthy - why does Kardia agree? He's more the type to say "O rly" and go on his merry way.
. How could Albafica's parents have left him in the field of roses near the Pope's palace anyway? (They didn't) It's not like anyone can stroll into the Juunikyuu area.
. Teshirogi: If Kardia had received Misopethamenos...
Eve: ...he would terrorize Milo to no end.
. Why Seraphina wasn't given a chance to launch an attack of her own, sob.
