Inspired by
extrajoker and the adult summer reading program at my library and completely UNinspired by the book I'm currently reading, I thought I would do some book reviews on my site.
The World to Come: a novel / Dara Horn.
This is a very interesting book. We actually discussed it in our book group, and we all agreed that while we enjoyed the book, we were not likely to read something else by this author. I find that to be an interesting benchmark. The book itself is rather depressing, and while I think the author meant for the ending to be uplifting, I didn’t really find it to be so.
Tempting Danger / Eileen Wilks.
Fun werewolf book.
When Demons Walk / Patricia Briggs.
Yay Patricia Briggs! This is more fantasy than what I normally read (urban fantasy) but I still really enjoyed her writing style.
Thirsty / M.T. Anderson.
This is what I’m currently reading. It has traces that I think are supposed to be funny, but it is very juvenile. As I’m sure Lori can attest, young adults novels do not need to be juvenile. We’ll see how it goes.
(Oops, just tried to leave work 30 minutes early. Flexible schedules are so annoying. Gad, I just did it again at 15 minutes. Apparently I want to go home.)
