Stars recap

First: HAPPY BIRTHDAY girlmitzi!!! We loves ya!

Secondly, we saw Stars on Saturday night and it was a great show although they came on way late and this old bird is not used to staying out so late! It's funny because even their merch girl was late to the booth (like, over a half hour after doors opened) and Torq came onstage well after the 9pm start only to play us some of his favorite tunes from his ipod. Duke Ellington, Helen Merrill, Pet Shop Boys, etc. It was cute as he proclaimed he was moving to Belgium to become the worst DJ ever but it was another half hour at least before the whole band came on. Despite them saying the names to all the new songs as they sang them, I don't remember many. Sufficed to say, the new album sounds pretty awesome. Definitely better than Sad Robots (wtf was that, anyway?) it has a much bigger sound and is definitely Torq-light on the writing or he's gotten better/less queer. I felt The Five Ghosts was more Amy as she's always had that dark side to her. Nic took cellphone pictures but they didn't come out very clear so just squint and pretend you are at the back of the venue without your glasses on trying to see them. :)

But before I get to that, I finally sat down last week and finished my concert ticket corkboard project. Sadly, this is not all the concerts I've been to, just the ones that I have managed to save over the years. Thusly, a lot of them are new-ish. And some are really old so try not to point and laugh. I am pretty sensitive about that. Gentle ribbing graciously accepted, however. :)

There is also a large version if you care enough to want to see all the tickets you can click here

Stars were loving on our crowd and instead of the advertised 4-song encore of fan favorites, they played us seven songs. Asterisks denote my votes on their website.

1. Your Ex-lover is Dead*
2. Take Me To The Riot
3. Elevator Love Song
4. One More Night*
5. Ageless Beauty
6. Calendar Girl*
7. Aspidistra Files --thought of you during this one LT. :)

All in all it was a really great experience and worth all the ridiculous anxiety I felt during the week. It was a good lesson in getting through that sort of thing with a fantastic reward at the end of it. THANK YOU STARS!
