Das Experiment

So this summer (not all of it, but much of it) I got back into exercising and counting my calories and trying to eat a balanced diet.  I worked out an average of 300 minutes per week, and most of it well within my target heart range.  I lost a couple pounds, but overall my weight has still stayed within 5 lbs of my lowest this summer, and it roughly where I started.  I know weight loss takes time and diligence, but it left me frustrated because I was about the same weight as I was when I wasn't dieting and exercising!  Now that school is back in session, it's going to be hard to work out in the evenings--when I prefer to.

So...... I'm going to try................ to get up even earlier (I usually get up between 6:15 and 6:25 and leave the apartment between 7:15 and 7:20).... to work out in the mornings.

Ugh.  I hate getting up in the morning.  I am NOT a morning person.  In fact, I could barely keep a straight face when I told Ryan this new idea of mine.

However, I actually like working out (once I get started), and I know that the release of endorphines and the increased metabolism will be a good way to start the day.  Again, I generally actually prefer working out in the evenings, but my afternoons and evenings are inconsistent.

I have no grandiose plans.  Just going to see how well I do with this, and if it can become a habit.  I'm not going to say "I will lose x amount by y date."  Just going to make it a goal to work out 30-60 minutes per day in the mornings.  If I do more later, great, but it's not something I can count on.

I also received a generous amount of birthday, money and may use some of it to actually go to a few weight watchers sessions to see if I like them, and if they'll fit into my schedule (which is sure to change in the Spring, as the musical has been postponed until the Spring semester).  Again, we'll see on that front, too.

So there it is.  Not making any promises, but keeping myself accountable and making it official.  Wish me luck!
