On Monday, I had a terrible, stressful day at work. When I finally got home, there was a box waiting for me on the doorstep that turned my whole day around!
Wanna know what was inside? I'll give you a hint--it's white, it's full of pretty, lacy flowers...and I got a great deal on it!
No, it's not my dress, sillies! I bought that in November!*
It's my veil! I took some photos, looking thoroughly disgusting after 12 hours at work, but here you go:
(that's my computer chair ;) )
My photos are all pretty terrible, so here are the stock ones from the seller:
It's a gathered mantilla, so it has the pretty lace of a mantilla, without the sometimes-awkward look of laying flat on the head. The seller also added some pearls to some of the flowers at no extra charge, which I thought was very sweet, considering I got the veil on clearance to begin with!
*Now that I think about it, I'm not sure I ever posted about my dress. Oh well, no time like the present!
Altogether, I tried on dresses at three different shops. I eventually went with
Vera's House of Bridals in Madison, and I went during their annual sale. My dress, which was originally somewhere in the neighborhood of $870, was marked down to $200. I bought it, cash and carry. It is much too large, and is actually clipped behind me in this photo, but for $200, I'll make due!
I guess I just look awkward in wedding attire, because the photo they took for me is also pretty bad. Just now, months later, I realized I am blushing like crazy in it!
My father actually offered to pay for my gown as a wedding gift, an offer I gratefully accepted, and when he found out my gown was only $200, he offered to pay for accessories and alterations, as well. This is helpful, because there are a LOT of alterations I want done.
The back has buttons and a zipper, and I would like to get rid of those in favor of a lace-up back (with turquoise ribbon, of course). It also needs to be taken in by several sizes. Oh, and I need a bustle for it. Eek!
Here are a couple photos of the dress itself:
When was the last time you received a package that fixed your bad day?
