I'm not even sure why he bothered.
My brother annoys me SO MUCH over the holidays. He's so damn selfish and antisocial. Heaven forbid my mother ask him to help with ANY of the zillions of tasks that need to be done in order for the family to have a nice celebration THAT WE *ALL* ENJOY!!! I have spent hours since I've arrived in VA doing various christmassy things that my mom simply can't do because of her health. I've baked cookies, wrapped presents, decotated (a little), helped her straghten up, and a ton of work towards our Christmas feast planned for this evening.
My dad also sits on his ass unless specifically asked to do something...but that's another rant. At least he's around to help when asked.
So, back to my brother...He drove in from Ohio last night, and didn't call to tell Mom or Dad he'd arrived. I only saw him because I had my nephew with me at the store, and had to take him home. What has he done today? Sat on his ass at my sister's house. Dad has called at least once to tell them that they are welcome to come over at any time...that my mom and I have fixed a lot of snacks for the day. My mom called him to tell him basically the same thing - only adding that Dad would enjoy his company while watching the game. It's now 4:15pm, and my brother has yet to make an appearance. Mind you, he's leaving to go back to Ohio TOMORROW MORNING! He fucking drove all this way, and he won't spend time with my parents because he's so damn selfish that he doesn't want to get off his ass and do anything to help out.
That's why he stays at my sisters - so she can't ask him to do anything.
I'm sorry - am I the only one who thinks its fucking selfish as hell to only show up for the dinner and gift exchange? Jeez - he could sit on his ass just as easily here, but he won't even do that! The only time he's actually spending with Mom and Dad is the DINNER!!! Why the fuck drive 10 hours for a meal? What's the point if you're not going to socialize with your family? He's done this the past 4 holidays in a row!!! I can't stand it!
My mother is fucking dying, and he won't even come over and see her. I mean, Vicky has an excuse today in that she's going to visit Shamont in jail today, because he has no other family. (It's messed up enough, but at least she's doing something VALID)
