To Feign Reality: I saw the coolest bug crawling on one of our oranges today

To Feign Reality: Dad bought a juicer and has been keeping a huge bowl of oranges inside (since we have the orange tree), but apparently instead of putting the older ones on top, he just kept piling newly picked oranges on the top, so today I noticed a few rotten oranges and started to throw out the whole bowl til I noticed this weird bright white thing on one...I thought it was a cocoon at first and leaned in to take a closer peek, and saw it move...it was about a quarter of an inch long and its body sorta looked like it was covered in white spikes, though rounded at the top (best way to describe it)...it had a teeny brown mouth poking out and 6 front legs it used to cling to the orange, walk a few steps forward, then scooted the rest of its body up like a catepillar....IT WAS SO CUTE

To Feign Reality: I tried taking photos, but they didn't come out at all, you just see a blurry white thing...I desperately need a better camera, but I don't have the money for it

To Feign Reality: I already looked at the site, but couldn't find anything under catepillars and can't think of what else it might be
To Feign Reality: I made sure to check my tree though, I don't want an infestation of adorable bugs that'll kill my tree ^_^;;

To Feign Reality: Left it on the orange and put it under the tree after I was done watching it, I'd have to figure it came from outside

I emailed the guy who took that photo and asked permission to send it to whatsthatbug.com along with my story, since What's That Bug has one photo on their page for mealy bugs and it's not much better than the photos I took.
If you ever find a bug you can't identify, that site's fuckin' awesome. I discovered it back in September when I saw a potato bug for the first time and wanted to identify it. I Googled "black and yellow striped bug" or something to that effect, and whatsthatbug.com was one of the sites to pop up. I felt incredibly stupid to learn that bug's harmless, I thought it was a wingless wasp or something and was going to devour me in my sleep. That's what happens when a city girl goes into the mountains.
