Man, I can't believe what a great, energized mood I'm in today. Yesterday I felt like I was swimming against a riptide in the ocean of suck. I also got a migraine that left me laying in the dark in my apartment for hours, praying to God to make my life numb. When I finally felt well enough to take Greta for her long overdue evening walk, I opened the door and Carey was standing there with a bouquet of gerbera daisies. Nice.
Rewind. Friday night after work Carey and I went to see Coraline in 3D. Gorgeous. Fun. Scary. Amazing. Two thumbs way up. I love me some Netflix at home with Greta cuddling, but nothin' beats a real movie experience.
Saturday was a typical farmer's market, eating, cooking, gettin' things done day. Remember the prize I awarded to the biggest donor of the Dogwalk Against Cancer? Thanks to Joy the Macbook, it's finally almost done!
Sunday was my day to cover the US Pole Dancing Championships. Some things went right and some things.....didn't. I got here a half hour early and realized I didn't have the number of the photographer I was working with. I sent an email to my editor and went to have a cup of coffee and wait for the response. I ordered a chai latte and realized....I forgot my wallet. Crap. I went back to the theater and found David the photog the old fashioned way- making prolonged uncomfortable eye contact with everyone until I could venture a good guess. The event was way behind schedule and I interviewed everyone BUT the competitors for hours before press call. Then I found out they didn't *exactly* have a seat for me. I stood around for an hour while they sat all 300+ ticket holders and then got to take a seat in the nosebleed section....behind a pole, fittingly. I felt like I was at Fenway. The caliber of the performers more than made up for the wait, though, and I finished interviewing the winner around 7pm and then raced hope to get some much needed breakfast lunch and dinner.
Back at home, I wrote and wrote and turned that beyotch around lickety split. It's not super relaxing to work 6 days a week, but writing professionally (SOOOOO wish this was my full-time job!) makes up for the abbreviated weekend.
