I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I assigned a personal narrative essay. I just thought it would be easier for my students to write about their own lives than to make something up, so I gave them two prompts to get them started. Sometimes I wish I'd gone through with teaching. Especially when I read about things like this. God really did put you in the right place at the right time. It sounds like you are making a significant difference in so many young lives. When the going gets tough, remember that God will never give you more than you can handle, even if you think He has. You make me smile.

I'm going to write a letter to Rick Riordan sometime soon. He has managed to hook so many of my reluctant readers, but this one really takes the cake. And this time, the recommendation to read The Lightning Thief didn't even come from me but from Marcus' math teacher, who is just as obsessed with the series as I am :)
