There is nothing more exhilerating than almost getting to the top of an icy hill, only to start sliding back down, get stuck when you try to reverse down, and have to jump out of your car like MacGuyver as it slides into a gully. A lesser mountain woman would have panicked... oh who are we kidding. I called my mom crying!
Then I had to scurry around calling the school all panic-attacky and e-mailing lesson plans to my coworker to give to the sub and hoping it's a tough sub because A days are when I have my rough students and worrying because I probably left my desk looking like a tornado hit. (Holly's reply: "All is well. Do not worry. We are glad you are okay.") What a great day this is so far-- I'm going back to bed until the ice melts and my car can be pulled out. Schools *here* are closed. Today is either a strong argument against commuting, for working from home, or for moving off the mountain, or maybe just for getting a vehicle with 4WD, and I'm still mad at myself for forgetting to get a running start.
until next time,
