What now?
I need everyone on my friend's list to cross their fingers and toes (and a few prayers wouldn't hurt, either) for Paul's new job. He loves his job, and they love him, but there's a little snag. The "big boss" from corporate office was in today and while she was there, she "interviewed" Paul with the intention of doing it now while she's here, so that it's done when his temp contract expires (she's only in the store twice a year). This was supposed to be a good thing...well, apparently they have decided that they want to hire someone for the position immediately, but they don't want to shell out the money to "buy out" his temp contract. Sooooo...if Paul's immediate supervisor can't convince the temp agency to release him from the contract (or more precisely, allow them to keep him without paying THEIR end of the contract,) he has a good chance of losing this job. And with my job in a very precarious position, I'm more than a little worried. I'll definitely be putting in overtime with "The Man Upstairs" over the next week or so!
