Encouraged and calm

So, I did some calculations today, and it seems that my budget could handle me getting this phone survey job. I asked dad to look over the numbers, and he couldn't find anything wrong with them. It's a low-salary job, and I don't expect my financial situation to improve dramatically, but at least it doesn't look like it would get any worse. Last ( Read more... )

Sounds like some crazy survey... I would have no idea how to answer some of these questions.
Do you mind asking what are you practicing? Or try to practice? I didn't really get it from the context.

P.S. I've always admired the proficiency of Finnish people in foreign languages and especially in English! Have you went to college for English? Or, I suppose, not?

Thanks for adding me! I don't know how to answer all the questions either, but it's fun to try... I practice playing the keyboard. Hopefully I can afford a real piano some day, but I have a small flat, and it wouldn't fit in here...
I think many Finns are proficient in English simply because our own language is such a small one, and our culture is very much oriented towards the U.S. Most series and movies shown on TV are American, so kids learn English simply by watching them. I studied English at school, but I think my relative fluency in it is mostly a result of reading lots of books in English, and spending a lot of time online. Movies and series too, of course...

Like you, I can't imagine how that company is still in business when they're violating labor laws. I hope that you get the job! When do you find out?

With 932: what would you like to buy?

You're definitely not alone at sucking at math and science for sure! As for the previous question, here we call it having a bad sense of direction. I have that for sure. ;-)

Today I was reading a post in a community and someone mentioned that they are in pain every single day and that reminded me of your answer for 948. I don't know about you, but sometimes when I get in a bad mood/sad about whatever health issues I deal with, and then I remind myself that there are people out there who have it worse. It's not always a comfort, but it definitely gives me pause.

Thanks, I hope to find out maybe the week after next week, I'm not sure how long they take to decide. Seeing as it's not a position of great power or responsibility, I think they're pretty much interviewing to see that the candidates aren't junkies, crazy, or anything like that.
I'd like to buy books, a guitar, throw pillows, new clothes and stuff like that. Nothing absolutely essential, just nice things:).
Yep, bad sense of direction is what I mean. I do have a bad sense of all kinds of spatial things, as well. I find it hard to guess lengths, weights, distances and stuff like that.
I know people who are in almost constant pain, and they somehow manage to be optimistic and productive. They confirm my belief that people can be awesome:).

It really irks me when companies get away with paying peanuts to their employees. I used to work for a grocery store that paid about $10 per hour, which is $5 below minimum wage here. The boss always threatened to let go anyone who spoke up about the wage or working conditions, but most people ended up walking out after a month or so. Luckily they're out of business now.

Best of luck with this survey job, it doesn't sound too shabby at all!

Slave labour never really goes out of style, does it? Thanks for your good wishes, I'm keeping my fingers crossed:).
