Oh, I don't take what I see on TV for the truth about America, don't worry:). It's more the little, everyday things that pop up sometimes. For example, I think it's interesting that there are so many phrases and words in Yiddisch and Spanish used on many shows, and in movies, and obviously they don't need to be translated to Americans. A Finn, however, rarely comes in contact with either language without traveling. I know how to order beer in Spanish, and I don't drink, so there's no practical application, really:). I want to travel for real, too, but finances are a bit limited for now, so I have to be content with reading and watching TV...

I hope you will hear back from the translation place!

I'm the same in that I really don't know anything about Africa. :\ Or pretty much anywhere, really. It helps having people on my friends list from other countries (hi!), though! The world is just so vast! There's so much to learn that I often wonder where to start.
