It's snowing upwards

... so that means spring is on the way, right? Right? I've been saying spring is on the way starting in January, and I'm sticking to that story. Baby steps, but definitely on the way...
I joined Goodreads! You can look at my bookshelves here, at least if you have an account. I spent some hours browsing books today, and it's nice to see that the recommendations seem to work quite well, since they often show books I've read and enjoyed. I was just looking for a new thing on the internet to get addicted to, so thanks to the reader who suggested it to me:). No, seriously, it's a great website, and since I'm reading more frequently and widely these days, it's good to find a wealth of new books, and other people who enjoy them.
No family visit today either, they are still coughing and sniffling and running slight fevers there. I don't want to catch it again, though I'm not sure if that's possible. Since it isn't the flu, which makes you immune once you've had it, I suppose it is possible. What's the matter with scientists anyway? They invent tractor beams, but the common cold remains undefeated... I know, it's because it changes shapes all the time, but it's still frustrating.
My friend is coming to visit me tomorrow, or else I'm visiting her, but anyway, I'm going to have company one way or the other, and I'll probably be either very early or very late writing about the next virtue on the list, which is CLEMENTIA, meaning mercy. It's a nice coincidence (the list is alphabetical) to be thinking about mercy and gentleness in the spring, I think. It's such a gentle time in many ways, with everything starting to grow, and animals having their young, and people falling in love. But for some reason, it's such an unhappy time too, with many people committing suicide (more than during other seasons, I believe), the strictness of Lent, and, for many of us, a time to start another diet to get ready for the swimming suit season... Not a bad time to remember not to be too hard on yourself, or other people, for that matter...
I'm going to have a cup of tea now, and maybe knit a bit. I began knitting yet another pair of stockings, and they are also going to be striped. Thanks to the colours changing, I'll know what they will look like only when I'm done. See you tomorrow, have a good day!

knitting, idle speculation, reading, what i did today
