Dexter
I was really worried about whether I could enjoy this season as much as I did the first two, because Doakes was one of my favorite characters and there just wasn't any replacing him. Boy was I worried for no reason, though -- this is the best season of Dexter yet. It's just amazing. Dexter is awesome as always, Deb is a hundred percent less annoying, there is eye candy in the form of Anton (yay for him still being alive!), and the storyline kicks ass. Jimmy Smits is an excellent addition to the show.
...Too bad he's got to die.
And yeah ... he's got to die. (Or I should say, Miguel has got to die. *pets Jimmy Smits* XP) At least they've made it so that I won't be as sad when he dies, though. What a piece of work! Any time he could make Dex lose his composure (even though he kept it bottled up, as per usual), that's saying something. And it's almost too bad, because Miguel and Dexter's chemistry on-screen is amazing. Not in a slashy way (necessarily, lol) but just in general, their scenes have beenintense.
I just can't see Dex not killing him. The problem is that it'll be a lot harder to get away with it with Miguel being a district attorney, and everything, so I wonder how Dex will work it out. This will clearly be the arc for the rest of the season -- well, that and the subplot of finding wherever it is that the skinner got to -- so I'm really excited. Based on the previews, Miguel's going to get a lot more ballsy and insane, and apparently he's going to fuck with Deb and Maria (both of whom really deserve a break already). So, yeah. He gotta die.
*nod*
True Blood
First of all,
LAFAYETTE!!!11!! D: D: D:
Damn, I'm going to miss him. Someone had mentioned to me that he dies in the books, but gah. I was still hoping they might chuck that part of canon. :P *sigh*
I think it must have something to do with the former-lover guy he threatened last week. Shit. Poor Tara, again.
She seems to be doing quite well all of a sudden, though, and I was afraid something was going to happen to her at the pig lady's place. (Well, it might still happen, but she seems to've made quite a turnaround and I hope that even when pig lady shows her true colors, Tara will somehow still feel good about herself.) Also, OMG, that Eggs fellow?
rar_lee! Looking fucking gorgeous and playing a guitar. *swoon* Okay, so he was either colluding with or brainwashed by pig lady, but so the hell what. He saved that whole scene for me. Up till then I was groaning at the screen, telling Tara to get the hell out of there WTF, and then there's Lee sitting on the couch. And Tara's "collecting stray black people" line helped save the scene as well. This show has the best one-liners ever.
Speaking of the pig lady, wtf was that with Sam? I'm still trying to decide whether I want to read the book and spoil myself about it. It was kind of nice seeing his interaction with Tara at the end. I confess I kind of like them together, even if that doesn't look likely anymore.
Also, Jason kind of stole my heart in that scene with Sookie, then in the church scene, I wanted to smack him again.
I loved how the Rene plot turned out -- because it wasn't really about Rene. It was about Sookie and how awesome she was, and about her friends. I loved that Sam and Arlene both figured it out as Rene was over at Sookie's house (thereby explaining that weird red herring Sam-rolling-around-in-the sheets thing from earlier in the season).
And, you know, it was completely romantic and lovely that both Sam and Bill rushed in to save her. (And that Bill was willing to die to get to her. :/) ...But how awesome was it that Sookie ended up killing the asshole her damn self anyway?? (FTR, I will refrain from making a direct comparison to a sparkly vampire series that shall remain nameless.)
*draws hearts around this show*
*draws extra hearts around Terry BelleFleur, who is odd and adorable*
Season 2 next summer!
Also,
ladybirdington, in case you didn't read the spoilery stuff, Lee was totally in this episode of True Blood. With a guitar. *drool* I'll totally cap and icon for you.
