I had to remove myself from Facebook (and later from the whole internet) b/c I was so disgusted with everything people were saying. I posted this on my Twitter, but one of my friends from HS wrote something about how insane it is that we spent all that money and lost all those lives just for this, when there are so many other problems that we ignore. Someone he's FB friends with (don't know this guy) responded, like, 'hey, you're an immigrant, you came here for a better life and now you're dissing my country?' That was probably the most outrageous bit of the night, which is saying something. I was both proud and sad to see my friend respond with, like, 'I've lived here since I was a kid, and we saw the attack on the WTC firsthand, and one of our friends killed himself rather than be deployed again, so screw you'...not that he said it like that, but I kind of wish he had. I was really outraged and generally disgusted on his behalf.
Meanwhile, someone else I went to HS with posted today that bin Laden should have been hanged, drawn & quartered, and dragged through the streets, and that respecting Islamic tradition in regards to dealing with his body was BS...and of course a bunch of similarly moronic friends of his 'like'd his post and made comments supporting him. I'm so ashamed that this kid probably only passed Chemistry by cheating off me, and I let him b/c I had a crush on him. Oh, the mistakes of youth...
