Merls, Merls, Merls.

...oh, dear. If multiple posts on my f-list are any indication, there is Gwen wank. So shocked right now you guys, SO SHOCKED.

I'm used to having ships that aren't canon. Most of mine are not. I know how much it sucks and I would never mock that. I know how much this SHOW sucks sometimes, and I know people are angry. Personally Merlin has been ( Read more... )

I haven't SEEN any Gwen wank today though I have felt its ripples on Tumblr; my biggest rage-inducing moment was actually seeing a Gwen/Arthur shipper calling Morgana a bitch and then complaining when people told her to step off that everyone gets to say bad things about Gwen so she should be able to say bad things about Morgana. Point, missing, much? If there's anything worse than people slamming Gwen for no reason at all, it's seeing Gwen/Arthur fans turn it around and decide to just treat everyone else like they're being treated - BECAUSE THAT SOLVES EVERYTHING.

Fandom just needs to grow the fuck up. And your lists are perfect, especially this one:

Things I Do Care About (srsly. not cool.):

+ using misogynistic, racist, generally problematic language when talking about Gwen
+ blaming Gwen and A/G for the show's problems, yes, ALL of them
+ acting like it's bad that Gwen is occasionally treated like a main character these days, not that she still gets to even be in every episode
+ the notion that a romantic storyline (read: Arthur's dick) has the power to remove any awesomeness that Gwen ever had (apparently Lancelot's dick does not have such power) and that the show would be much better if she'd just stay away from said dick - I mean, romantic storyline

It's like whenever I try to stand up for Gwen people are all like 'OMG I CAN LIKE AND NOT LIKE WHOEVER I LIKE IT'S A FREE COUNTRY YOU ARE A NAZI WAAAAAAA' and I'm like - dude. I don't give a crap about who you like or don't like. But you start throwing words like 'slut' and 'whore' and 'bitch' around and yes, Imma gonna get in your face about it. Because that kind of language is not on, I don't care WHAT you think of the character. And just - the IDEA that GWEN - GWEN for whom the advent of getting LINES in an episode is like a NOVELTY still - is depriving the boys of screen time is so freaking ridiculous. I've seen this arguement coming and going since late S1 and it still makes me make this face: 0.o because really? REALLY? These people are so deluded that they think the writers are honestly more interested in EITHER of the girls than Merlin and Arthur? Let ALONE Gwen? I just - I just - WHY ARE SOME FANGIRLS SO FUCKING STUPID?! HNNNNNNG.

Sorry. I'll be over here - rocking.

Ur so right... I only write about my support of A/G. I really like Morgana. Some one has to be evil. So I guess it's going to be Morgana. Fandom on the internet is waaaay to crazy this days.

Ugh. I don't understand the Morgana-hate from (select) A/G shippers. Gwen and A/G have some of their biggest episodes (3x07 and 3x10) ALL THANKS TO MORGANA BEING A "BITCH". We should be THANKFUL for her "bitchiness" because it's been giving our ship storylines and screentime. So bring on the "bitch", I say. Cuz it looks like Morgana's shenanigans might be the catalyst for more A/G at the end of S3 and I am not complaining.

For serious. Personally I just adore Morgana - she's my girl the way that Gwen is Heather's girl :P so I'm not going to take kindly to seeing her bashed whatever the reasoning behind it. But criticising her for intervening with Gwen and Arthur is patently ridiculous because her interventions, no matter how unpleasant her intentions, have hardly been detrimental here! I mean it looks like next ep, minimally, she's going to be the cause of some epic blanket-based make-out times.

I can understand, now that she's evil, Morgana-hate -- but only to a certain extent. Villains are meant to be hated. To feel passionate dislike for a villain means that the villain's doing a good job. (To "love to hate them") But there's a big difference between that and outright bashing, which is just not alright and unfortunately what's been seen sometimes. (Because Gwen and A/G fans - and everyone - should "do unto others" and all that.)

I thoroughly enjoy evil!Morgana for her plot-driving (among other things). Sure, sometimes I wish the writers had steered her more toward 'morally gray'. But I'm A-Okay with her evilness, too. The show needs a strong villain and she's been doing a good job.

Oh yeah, I can totally understand people being like 'OMG SHE'S SO NASTY! BOOOO!' that's fine - she's the villain, people are MEANT to be like that around her, and though I miss the Morgana who had a heart, I'm also enjoying her villainhood, so that's not a problem for me. It's when it crosses that line from people begrudgingly going along with her evilness for the sake of the plot to outright calling her a bitch and getting seriously vitriolic about hating her that I always feel the need to step in, because really, baddie or not, we don't need to bashing her.

Exactly. I don't understand how people can be upset with her for doing her job as a villain and I totally understand stepping in when people have gone over the line into bashing.
