I watched Mad Men last night but find I don't have much to say about it, really. It was slow and heavy on the Don. Good Joannie stuff, though. I think I'll rewatch later in the week or something.
For now, some quick points on True Blood; I actually really liked this ep overall even though I didn't like everything about it.
+ LOL I thought Bill and Sookie were really over after the beginning of this one - of course, they might still be after all. Looks like Alcide/Sookie is going somewhere. Not really looking forward to that, because I still ship him with Tara a little and I'm a little tired of every guy that comes on the show being all SOOKIESOOKIESOOKIE all the time, except the crazy motherfucker that preyed on Tara.
+ Speaking of Tara, I loooooooove how they're playing out her storyline, even though I haaaaated how it started. I like it because it's actually consistent, and there are whole scenes of her dealing with her trauma, getting comfort from her friends (the ones who aren't Sookie anyway), and slowly moving on with her life. Seeing her at work at Merlotte's compared to how she was in the premiere is like night and day. Love it.
+ Also, TARA/SAM MY OTP I NEVER THOUGHT I'D SEE YOU AGAIN. He hugged her, and he's looking out for her, and he didn't want Tommy flirting with her (speaking of which, awww, the Merlott boys love them some Tara), and eeeeeeeee. I hope their storylines remain entwined for the rest of the season.
+ I generally like how everyone's storylines are more entwined in the second half of the season. There wasn't enough of that last season, everyone was off doing their own thing and barely interacting until the end. I like that Merlotte's is now an important backdrop again, that Tara and Tommy and Jessica and Lafayette and Arlene are working there at the same time. I like that Sookie's interacting with Tara, with Hadley, and Bill and Jessica, and all those storylines are starting to converge a little bit. It's much more fun to watch.
+ The Tara/Sookie scene started great but got disappointing for me. I love when they interact and support each other, but Sookie is kind of blowing me away this season with how self-involved she is. Tara's had more support from Lafayette, Sam, and even Alcide than she's had from her supposed best friend after going through what she did. idk, this week their scene fell flat for me.
+ I liked Bill this week! Mostly when he was with Jessica. It's about damn time he started acting more like her maker/mentor. Loved when they were practicing fighting at the house, and I loved when they both showed up to help Sookie, it was awesome. Jessica's becoming more and more in her element and is another character who's having a really consistent storyline this season. Love her. I love that she turned the tables on that werewolf out in the woods.
+ Hoyt's random emotears in the truck didn't really move me at all, haha. I don't know when I stopped liking him much.
+ I kind of rolled my eyes at the fanservice between Eric and Talbot to be honest. Don't get me wrong, it was fun to watch at first, but it sort of bugs me that Lafayette and Jesus have this chaste sweet fade to black thing going on, whilst what we got between Eric and Talbot was way more explicit, at least before Eric killed Talbot in a parody of sex. So idk, wasn't that thrilled with it beyond the naked Askars. I just feel like the queer relationships should be treated the same as every other relationship on the show, which is to say, with over-the-top scenes that last way too long. *g* And not just the relationships that aren't real or functional.
IDK, maybe it's just that I'm a) generally annoyed with everything Eric chooses to be this season b) sad that Talbot's dead c) bitter that Sophie/Hadley was offscreen, haha. idk i have a lot of feelings. *g*
+ Also! Tommy is adorable when he's away from his drag of a family. More Tommy please.
So yeah, all in all a good episode, for me. Though with the Bill/Sookie, they could have left off the last scene.
