I prowled the streets, walking silently.
Moonlight shone on the wet cobblestones. I used to walk these streets looking for demons.
Looking for enemies.
Namely, people like myself.

At least, myself now. Not myself then.
Then, I was a Slayer. A killer of demon and Vampire alike.

Now, that Slayer is gone.

To be replaced by another.

'The Council certainly didn't waste Its time.' I thought when I saw her.
She was battling -particularly well- against a group under my command.
I'd hand trained them. Which is why they weren't dust already.

I didn't directly dive into the frey, seeing as it would pose more danger to myself and my mission.
Right now, my only mission was to observe.

See how she works, how she thinks, how she reacts.

Bernard, a favorite of mine, was soon dusted.
Pity. He was one of the oldest.

There were at least five others still battling her, attempting to pin the new Slayer to the ground.
One almost succeeded.

Almost. But, he made the fatal mistake of not pinning the arms securely.
Her arm easily came free, and she dusted him quickly.

Two more failed in their attempt.

The other fled, leaving the Slayer alone.

This gave me the chance to look at her. About as tall as I was, graceful.
I didn't show my face to her, but I spoke.

"Well fought. But this victory is slight."

She responded, glancing around.
"Damn vampires. Can't get the point across." As a gesture, she gripped her stake.

The moon was close to setting. The Master was expecting me..
As silent as I had come, I left to the Master's lair.
