"Do not be too timid and squeamish about your actions. All life is an experiment."
the above quote is something i've been reminding myself of on a daily basis as of late.
i love logan elementary + the kids of room 313. honestly, i will not pretend as though i did not have my reservations about teaching fifth grade in a north philly public school, but i love it.
my coop, travis, is wonderful. he is extremely laid back and very much adaptable to change, which is a quality that i am trying to emulate, especially in the classroom. the principal is also a good guy who has a lot of enthusiasm and great ideas about ways to improve the school. the staff is primarily young and it is a great school environment.
i have to start prep for social studies lessons this weekend, and i start teaching next thursday. i'll handle social studies primarily for two weeks, then pick up guided reading on the end of that second week. then, i will pick up writing, then finally math, then teach each subject for four weeks and then give back math and social studies, then give back guided reading and writing and then observe and pretty much just wrap things up for the last two weeks.
then my last day is my 21st birthday! haha i already think travis is planning on taking me out for a drink on my last day.
and he has a ponytail which still sort of makes me laugh when i see him from the side.
i would teach at that school in a heartbeat, and if you asked me that a week ago before i started there i would have probably laughed at you.
