Since I am not so good at posting on a regular basis, I have decided to start monthly newsletters. Much like the much loved
Dooce, to her daughter. This is more for myself, but some for you. I have always wanted to keep a diary, but was never very good at it, until there were friends that left nice comments. I hate that I don't contribute here more often, because I love reading back at my old entries and reminiscing. Maybe that's narcissistic, but I want to remember what's going on in my life and when. So here goes.
Today I filled out my FAFSA form. I am officially on the way to grad school. I still have a whole pile of things to write and submit, but it's getting there. It's a step in the right direction, even though it's the complete unknown.
Fatty Mr. Finn is doing FABULOUS!!!!! Jennifer rode him a few weeks ago, and appropriately kicked his ass. He hasn't quite been a saint since then, but things have been easier. He is getting better at holding himself together and he can actually keep himself in frame for half the ring!!! I changed him to a Wintec saddle, despite all the arguments against them, and a pelham. I have no problem with the pelham. Any bit can be harsh in the wrong hands, and I'm able to be much lighter on him with this one. As for the Wintec, Jen had the idea that it's air filled panels would help his huge shoulder/no wither issue, and maybe it does. All I know is that he is so much more cooperative since we switched his tack around that he's almost a different horse. He still balks and sucks back a bit, but we're working on it. I had a saddle fitter come see him, but she was actually there to try him out for a lease. She ended up being too tall for him, but she did give me some saddle insight that I'm not sure I agree with. She said the Wintec didn't fit him, and that it was too curved for his flat back. Ok well, I tried a half pad and that made it much better. Honestly, I don't care that she said it didn't fit him, because I know my horse, and his behavior changed completely the day we tried that saddle. Lord only knows what saddle I'll end up buying. Maybe I won't buy another Wintec, because Jen's Harry Dabbs fits the both of us very well, and he goes almost as nicely in it.
Oh and, we are NOT evacuating ourselves or the horses!!! Hanna has shifted to the north and it will be business as usual this weekend. YAY!!!!!!
I am getting married in that very spot in 2.5 weeks.
My ex-boyfriend Dan is currently living with Kenneth and Me. Thankfully they're friends, so it's not SO awkward. It's a long story, but he is buying a house, the bank is screwing around and he had to move out of where he was. He'll close on his house at some point, but we didn't want him out in the street.
Jet has a rash on his face, and we can't figure out where he's getting it from. It happened when Ken mowed the yard the last two times. I treated him the first time it cleared right up. Now it's back, so he's on prednazone, benadryl, and genta-spray again for the next week. Poor boy. Oh and they got new custom made collars! It was a splurge but so worth it, especially since their ID tags are riveted to them.
My rat Fran has a tumor. I has been there for a few months now. It doesn't seem to cause her any pain, but it has gotten big enough to inhhibit her ability to get around. I decided it was time, but I did research first on the euthanization of rats. It was not pretty. Apparently giving them a shot at the vets office isn't the best way to go for a rat. There are various options to "do it yourself", which I'm not sure I'm comfortable with. :/ I don't know what to do for her. I don't want to just let nature take care of itself here. She acts happy and healthy, but with a giant lump by her leg.
I know I sound incredibly depressing in this format. Really things aren't depressing, there's just A LOT going on, and not many awesome ways to describe them. I promise I'll make it more interesting in the future, and maybe less random. I'll try to improve my photography skills too. Sorry, I've been far too lazy to bother with great pictures.
So in an effort to lighten this up, here's a picture of random people playing extra large public chess in Forsyth Park.
This is why I love Savannah.
Nighto!
