show and life thus far

Since I'm waiting on laundry and there's nothing else I really want to do until that's done, I figured I'd post a proper update.  Normally I would be in bed by now, or at least close to it, but Ken, the dogs, and I are driving to Arkansas tomorrow for my best friend Mark's wedding.  I get to stand on his side too, how awesome!  What's even more awesome is that I get to wear a J. Crew dress that I got on ebay for $40, and had altered beautifully for only $48.  Woohoo!

So a year at a real life, full time, "big girl" job has come and gone for me.  I thought to myself the other morning that a year ago riding my bike 3.5 miles to work at 7am was probably one of the last things I ever thought I'd be doing.  But I am.  I like my job better than I used to.  Maybe because I have less responsibility.  No, they didn't demote me because I was doing a bad job, it just got to be too much of a job for one person and they gave all the hard stuff to someone more qualified.  I was offended at first, but it's been pretty awesome.  Now I'm really just a secretary, which I still have a very hard time admitting.  I know I don't talk about my job much here, and that's why.  Riding my bike to work however, has gone from being a chore, to something I really enjoy.  Especially since I was able to buy a size 30 breech for the first time in... I think ever.

Because of work, it seems impossible for me to ever have enough time to sit down and devote any time to art.  I've been battling with this since I graduated, and now that I actually can manage my time, I don't have any of it.

A lot of that time away from work lately has been spent keeping up the house, dealing with the dogs, or riding.  Good lord, I think I rode more last month than I did in the three months before that combined.  Progress has been a little slow, but I also figured out our saddle doesn't fit.  :(  I will explain later, but needless to say it's a major annoyance.

I finally got engaged officially, but you all know about that now.  I still catch myself glancing at the ring because I don't believe it's really there.

And Saturday, Finn and I made it through our first show.  It was my first "real" show, and his first ever.  My only goal was to survive, and we ended up with a first and a third in our dressage tests.  :D  I knew what we did wrong, and the judge's sheet said what I knew it would say.  He was very locked in his neck and I was too nervous to really get him moving off his hind end.  Even so, I am MORE than pleased!  I didn't see anyone else ride, so I never expected to actually get a ribbon, let alone a blue!  I have wanted to show my whole life, and I never got to.  The times I could have, I always talked myself out of it.  Well on Sunday, I finally got to do what every little horse crazy girl dreams of.  I hung a string along my wall to hang my ribbons on.  I've waited 25 years to do that, and once again I keep glancing at it like I don't believe it's really there.

See, photographic proof.
I'm actually talking to the judge, who was politely telling me how to salute, because I did it wrong.
It was pretty funny, and she was very nice about it

That is stolen from the photographer's site, because I don't have any of the ones Ken took yet.
And you know what, here's some pictures of the dogs (and Finn rolling), because they've been kind of left out lately.  I have even more on Ken's computer, but I'll just save those for later.

Om nom nom nom nom

Oh Papu.  This is totally going in the "most favorite picture ever" file.

It was at this point that I grabbed her head, flopped her ears around and made motor boat noises.

Wee!  He likes to pretend he's a horse.

My Jet, he's so handsome

And I just want to kiss his squishy head!

battling for the squeaky

ROFL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

pit bull wins

So this was from back when I was undecorating the Christmas tree.  I just layed the lights on him and he gave me this "but Mom I was napping" look.

Papu in a coat!!!!!!  I don't have any pictures of her naked, but I shaved her and then it got cold again, so I bought her a rug.  She loves it.

So yeah Finn's saddle doesn't fit.  Multiple saddles, same result... wtf.

A friend of ours had never ridden before, but always wanted to, so Finn played lesson pony for a day.

Daw. (note the Fabio hair)

I still LOL at this picture.  Happiness is a dirty pony.

boof, points lip for concentration

and success!

Oh hai mom... lots better!
Ok that's it.  More later when I have them!
