It's been a while and a whole Hell of a lot has happened. I'm sure I can't remember everything, but I'll try.
Well, I moved recently. This is why I have had no internet for a while. I moved from Colton to Quail Valley...way out in the boonies. We were actually able to buy a house (no more apartments!! woohoo!!!). 3 bedrooms 2 baths + a den. It's nice. There are a few drawbacks though:
--It's in a fire hazard area. There are many fields here, full of dry brush. Two empty lots on either side of the house, and one behind the house - full of dry brush. The smallest fire could, essentially, ignite the whole town.
--Down the road from our house (seriously, like 2 houses down) someone spraypainted a Nazi Swastika on the street. :( That really sucks. But I guess this is the place to be a bigot...what am I saying? There are racists everywhere. I guess I'm glad I'm white. Mostly.
--Lots of dirt bikes going up and down the street...but I can deal with that. Cuz I have to.
--The yard right now is purely dirt and ROCKS. Tons of rocks. Hard, hard packed dirt. And weeds...we made a big effort to remove them a couple weekends ago. My mom weedwhacked for about 6 hours while I raked and disposed behind her. 6 Hours! And you know what? we weren't even halfway done!!!
We have a lot of plans for that front yard...and my GOD it's going to take a lot of work.
--I'm sure there's more, but I'll add them as I think of them
And now for the good points:
- We have our own house and can paint it whatever fucking color we want. Inside or out. We are currntly trying to paint the living room...Not going so well. I think this is the second weekend in a row we have attempted to do this...Don't ask.
- Wildlife!! So many animals have I seen so far. I think the first night I saw a big ol' frog right by the front of our house. It had been soo long since I'd seen a frog - especially next to my residence. It hung out all night. :) There are also many, many wild rabbits here. They are soo cute! Grey with fluffy white tails. But, you know, they're all slim and muscular and long; not domestic-looking. I swear they all come out in the middle of the night when less people are driving about. Just colonies of them running rampant! There's also strange foliage, and so many different kinds of birds. There's one mockingbird that I SWEAR just sits (and hops) on the same telephone pole all day - ALL day - and sings it's many (car-alarm-sounding) songs. There's hawks and owls too!! And I think there are quails. Can't forget the lizards either. And I'm sure there are billions of snakes...haven't seen any. But they're lurking about somewhere. They have to be, with all the rocks here.
- People party loud and don't care, which means we can party loud and no one will care. Haven't partied LOUD yet, but I swear to God it's on my agenda. I need to release a lot of pent up anger from living with stupid room mates so many times.
- Beautiful scenery. There are a few hills right next to us. The skies are clearer than the cities I've lived in. There are no houses crammed up next to us like in the track houses you'll find these days. And I'm also pretty sure our house is different on the inside than the houses around us. :D
- Privacy. Like I said, no one next to us. I need that. I liked this house the very first time we saw it. I told my Mom this. "With our price-range and with what we've seen so far, I feel the most positive about this house, like I'm safe here." She said 'Really?...I don't know' And I said "I don't know either, but I thought I should tell you that."
Do you know how long it took for us to find this house? Besides the 25 years my Mom has been working to own her own house, it took ONE WEEKEND. We looked at a bunch of houses and kind of figured, 'with what we've seen so far in our price range, this is awesome, and we should jump on it before anyone else does!'
I never had ANY doubts about it until it was pretty much already ours and we went back to the house to sign papers. I don't know why, but I questioned it. It wasn't very serious though.
That's it for now.
