yesterday steve and i went to greenwich village to see roark. i love new york and i'm serious about living there. every time i go i don't ever want to leave and that's a great feeling to have. our train was 30 mins late so we got into the city around 5pm i'd say. while it was still light out we found our way to the bitter end. then we decided to walk
bleeker st. to find somewhere to eat and to just fully bask in the great atmosphere that is greenwich village. at one point i stopped and realized that we were in the town where bob dylan was created and i said to steve, "bob dylan was created here.. i mean, he came into ny as robert zimmerman and left as bob dylan." i was in all my glory, and no matter what people say that is an amazing place. i'm very mad that erica was RIGHT THERE and we didn't even hang out. damn my phone! julia styles passed us on the sidewalk on bleeker st. i have never been that close to anyone famous before and i was like ah oh man! that was julia styles! she was my favorite actress way back in the day. right away i called my mom and told her and she was excited for me. anyway, after a lot of walking, steve and i went into bleeker st. records and i purchased two bob dylan records- hard rain and infidels for only $14. i'm listening to infidels right now. after that we decided to find somewhere to eat and chose pizza. the place we went into was really dirty but the pizza was alright. the girl working was singing so loud i couldn't help but laugh. steve was very sly and got like 485904385 pictures of me on his phone without me noticing. i'm not sly though cause i only got one picture of him but it's okay i'll get him one day! after pizza we headed back to the bitter end and were the only two people on the guest list. i met roark who is pretty cool, reminded me of alex a little bit. there's a large painting on the wall behind the bar of people who've played there and of course i noticed bob dylan's first. there were pictures on the wall too, some of bob dylan. some of him with joan baez. i wish i had those pictures. i wish i could have seen him play there, but that will never happen again. i did imagine him playing and the atmosphere and people sitting and watching back in the day and that made me feel really excited, but i'll never truly know what it was like to see him play in an atmosphere like that. roark played really well, but i didn't like how there was a two drink minimum per show. ridiculous. i had to gulp down two sprites in like 30 mins, in addition to the sprite i had with my pizza not long before that. i thought my bladder was going to explode. steve and i left after roark's set to make the 9:45 train back to jersey. walking back to penn i took a deep breath and said goodbye to ny and i sighed. steve and i fought on the train ride home. it felt a lot shorter than going into the city. i got home a little after 11 and was already wanting to go back. then i go on internet explorer and see on yahoo news that the average apartment in manhattan goes for $1.2 million. there goes my dreams of ever living in the city. but steve said he'll buy me an apartment, so he'll really have to work for that one or else. i'll never let him live it down. (just kidding!) i can't wait for my dad to come home from PA tomorrow so i can tell him all about it. a few more pictures
here.
RIP pope john paul II. he was a really great man.
