He loves the feeling of arms wrapped tightly around him, the feeling of gentle fingers touching his pale skin, the feeling of being in love and not knowing what to do about it.
He sees Bojan and suddenly, the world stops spinning and he can’t think straight. He’s never felt this way before; he never felt this kind of love. Yes, there had been others, but no one came close to the way Bojan made him feel.
Since he knew how to kick a ball, he built a passion for football. It was his life and everything else just had to fit into it. But sometimes he just wanted to run away from all of it, he just wanted to get away from being the golden boy, the one who would change the way people looked at football. Then Bojan came along and he didn’t want to be anywhere else (but in Spain) or play anything else (other than football).
He had interviews with various people during his last injury. The interviewers would always ask him why he’d still have a smile on his face when he was suffering from an injury. It was unbearable to him. The pain of the world not knowing why he was happy; it was like a bullet hit his heart and built a home there. And yet he lived with it because he knew that the one he loved knew how he felt.
Every night he’d come home to Bojan and they’d talk. Talk about their lives, their families, and their secret.
“Do you think there’s something greater than football?” Bojan would ask and he would press a kiss on the boy’s forehead.
“You’re greater than football.” He would tell the boy and a second later he’d feel lips pressed against his own.
He loves the feeling of the ball at his feet, the feeling of being part of a legendary team, the feeling of knowing that when football won’t be there, someone else is.
