When the sun sets in the east...

Feb 06, 2007 12:04

A strange thing happened to the sky last night.

At sunset, we went outside to gaze at the sky: a great swath of deep magenta swept across the sky near the horizon, turning the side of the house purple and giving everything a colored glow. It was beautiful.

Then we realized that it was the EASTERN horizon burning.

I turned to look at the west, and I could see the pale glow in the middle of the western horizon where the sun had recently set; the sky above it was a light dusky color fading to twilight blue above. No sunset color to speak of. But the whole eastern horizon was alight with brilliant color.

It was one of the weirdest fey things I have ever seen. I think someone must have opened a door into Faerie.

But someone must have closed the door again, because the world proceeded to go twilight and dark and the night came and went in its usual fashion.

Wyrrd.
