My sons computer is not working. We where told that he needed to purchase a new windows program so that is what we did. It still won't work. When we turn it on the DELL logo comes on the screen. When we insert the new Windows XP program it goes into safe mode. We try to load it in safe mode but it just "clicks" and goes back to the "DELL" ( Read more... )

Also, I just thought of this. I've had more problems solved for me on LJ than I can shake a stick at! At the top of this page, there are two boxes, over on the right. THey say "FIND" and "SITE & USER", and next to that there is a Go button.

Click on "Find" and type in...anything. "tropical fish" perhaps. Then, click on the "Site&User" box, and it will drop down into a menu of choices. Choose "interest." Now hit "Go."

This searches all of LiveJOurnal (and LJ is HUGE) for people and communities interested in tropical fish. The communities will be at the top. You're worried about your angel fish because it has a wart on its butt, so maybe you find a community just about angelfish, or perhaps just tropical fish as pets. Click on the little orange graphic in front of the word, not the word itself! This will take you to the "userinfo" page, which describes what the community is about. There's also a link near the top of the page to "join community."

After reading about the community to be sure it's the right one for you to ask your question about angelfish butt warts (and this is important because you don't want to accidentally ask about angelfish in a community CALLED "angelfish" but is really about pornstars or something), you can click on the link to join the community. Then, go to the "post" page that you use to update your own livejournal--but there is a drop down menu near the top that says "heartsofmine," and when you click on it, it will also let you post in "angelfish". Now write a message to the community and say "Man, my fish has a bigass freaking wart on its butt, is it dying? How do I remove it?"

In no time at all, someone will explain that your fish is just trying to poop, and if you wait five minutes, the poo will fall off and your fish won't look like it has a butt wart anymore. :D

And so you can try that with computer communities--believe it or not, there are geeks out there who have a professional knowledge level that like to help people for fun and for free (Because geeks are often really nice, much nicer than cool people like me. hahahaha)

Here are some communities I found you might want to try your question in:

pcgeeks - a help-only community, and everyone is required to be nice! It's in the rules.

tech_support - a community for asking questions about computer trouble
