This is a little late in coming, but I've not been able to form words on just how I felt until now. I put this together for the gathering being held in CA next month, but also as a letter to Caer. For those of you who knew her, but don't have

her post if you'd like to be included on the gathering, or if you can't be there in person like me, let her know your favorite flower and if you have any words you'd like to have said at the lei floating.
Caer,
Today, I light a candle for you. I light it not out of religion, but out of love, respect, and in honor of you. You were, are, and will always be a friend, a sister, a mentor. You were kind, funny, loving, strong, full of courage, a rock for all who knew you and you take with you those qualities. I grieve not only for the loss of a friend, but for the loss of a great soul in this world. It was a great honor to have known you and though some may not believe in reincarnation or the like, I know one day we all will meet your wonderful soul again. You'll be there in our children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews and strangers. You'll be there in their bubbly laugh, their smiles, their courage and strength and in their sharp wit. You'll be there in the sun, shining your warming rays on us and in the moon, lighting the way through the dark. Your presence will always be here with us and lift us up. This is not so much a mourning as it is a celebration of who you were, are and will always be. You will be missed, but I take strength in knowing you are not truly gone forever. I love you Caer. You will always have a place in my heart. I am honored to have been able to call you a friend and a sister for the few years we knew each other. I will see you again one day and we can once again laugh about all the joys we share.
