Gaming to raise money for Cancer.

“Extra Life is about getting a new group of people involved in helping fight pediatric cancer. There are plenty of “walk-a-thons” and “run-a-thons” and honestly many who consider themselves “gamers” might not participate in that because it doesn’t interest them. Extra Life is about going to a completely different group of people and asking them to help out and do what they enjoy at the same time. This means overall we have increased the number of people helping out. We’ve got “walk-a-thons”, “run-a-thons”, and now “game-a-thons”. I don’t see anything bad here.” - Matt Fulgham (Extra Life participant, 2008)

On Oct. 17th, 2009, I will be gaming for 24 hours straight to raise money for pediatric cancer. I am asking people to sponsor me in this. This is a huge event, and I feel strongly about being able to help make a difference. I know it seems geeky and people are turned off because of the whole game playing, but I am asking people to put aside their feelings on video games to help me raise money for a good cause.

IF YOU ARE INTERESTING IN PLEDGING ANY AMOUNT:
Please follow the steps on the link below. If you would prefer to write a check, please send me an email with Extra Life Donation as the subject or leave a comment here and I will be glad to send you the paper form to do so. All pledges are greatly appreciated and I want to thank you all in advance for your support of this great cause. That’s right, you may be sponsoring me, but you are supporting Pediatric Cancer Research. Again, any amount per hour is appreciated. Pledging $1.00 per hour only adds up to $24.00. My starting goal is $250, but I hope you all will help me surpass that goal!

THE DONATION YOU MAKE COULD ALSO POTENTIALLY BE A TAX WRITE OFF!

HOW TO MAKE YOUR DONATION:

Go here and click the Donate Now button, and it will guide you through the online donation steps. If you would rather give me the money to donate on your behalf, please do so by Friday Oct. 9th, so they can receive the donations by Oct. 17th.

Please help spread the word. Pass this message along to friends, family, coworkers, ANYONE! If you have any questions, please feel free to send me a message and I will do my best to answer them. It’s time to make a difference in these children’s lives. I hope you will help me accomplish that goal.

If you would like to join me in this game-a-thon, please feel free to sign up on the Texas Children's Hospital website and join the Limit Break Radio team! If you are local and just want to game (24 hours or even just for a few), please feel free to let me know! I would love to have a friend or two stop by and game with me!
