How I got here..

Character Name: Nymphadora Tonks
Series: Harry Potter books
Age: 23
From When?: After the battle in the Department of Mysteries (Order of the Phoenix), she made a deal with the Barge to attempt to save Sirius.

Inmate/Warden: Warden. It’s not quite being an Auror, but in the same vein. Plus she used to be a trouble maker. It seems right that she should help someone else, even if she doesn’t really think she’s old enough.
Item: Wand.
How Long Have You Been Here?: New arrival.

Abilities/Powers: Magic and her status as a Metamorphmagus, which allows her to change her appearance at will.

Personality:
Tonks, as she likes to be called, is a charming but clumsy girl. While incredibly intelligent, she sometimes lacks the discipline to get things done unless she needs to and is still considered a bit immature for her age. She doesn’t view it as irresponsibility as she does what she must when she must; rather, she just likes to have fun and enjoys reacting to the world with as laid back and humorous an attitude as is appropriate. Still, being an Auror, she knows how to work. She also tries to be helpful when she can be. It’s an interesting combination of traits. Having suffered so many losses recently, she was forced to mature a little more quickly than she would have liked. Her reaction to the barge will likely be one of surprise even though she volunteered for the job, but she will quickly adapt. It will be another adventure to her.

History:
Nymphadora Tonks was the daughter of the muggle-born (non-wizards) Ted Tonks and the illustrious witch Andromeda Black. Her mother was disowned from the Black line as a result of her scandalous marriage and, partially because of such an act, Tonks was raised as a much more open-minded person and without the deep-seeded hatred of most of the Black family. She was primarily home schooled, though occasionally training with some friends of about her age to gain her social skills, until she was eleven years old. Her parents were thrilled when she received her invitation to Hogwart’s School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

While at school, Tonks excelled in her classes. She was popular because of her charisma and penchant for mischief, possessing a better balance than most in having fun and studying. Despite her high marks, she was never made a prefect because of her delight for trouble. Still she had many friends and very much enjoyed her time at the school. After graduating from Hogwarts, Tonks knew that she wanted to pursue the route of an Auror (dark wizard catcher) without question. She was the first in her family, but it suited her personality well and, though she would never admit it, it was a way of fighting the resentment she felt at being related to such evil people. After three more years of training, she finally qualified as an official Auror. She spent a year working primarily with Kingsley Shacklebolt and Alastor “Mad-Eye” Moody, not an original part of the Order of the Phoenix (a special group made to fight the dark lord) but a member of the forward guard.

Only a year after becoming an Auror, she met the famous Harry Potter and helped other members of the Order to escort him from his muggle home to the base of the Order. She spent the rest of that year working to fight the Voldemort (the dark lord) with the Order. In June of the following year, she was a part of the both epic and tragic battle at the Department of Mysteries. Harry Potter and his crew had ventured into a trap there and it was up to Tonks, along with other Order members, to rescue them from the Death Eaters that were there. Though the Aurors eventually won, Sirius Black--an old and dear friend-was killed and Tonks herself ended up severely wounded by the same person who had killed him: Bellatrix Lestrange. In the hospital, after a visit from Remus Lupin, she made the wish to exchange her own life for that of Sirius’s, her only decent relative.

Tonks awoke in what seemed to be her bedroom, but she realized quickly that it was actually her new room in the Barge. The Admiral had accepted her wish. Or so she liked to believe.
