When Tom got home, he knew Bill would be waiting, demanding answers. “And! What did David want you for?” he asked, following Tom around just like the dogs were. “Tom? Tom? What did he want?” he asked, and Tom smiled in amusement as he walked around the island in the kitchen three times before Bill realized and stopped, glaring at Tom. “TOM!”

Tom sighed, grabbing a beer before walking out, heading into the living room. “Well…” he started, trailing off. He flopped down on the couch and cracked open his beer. “It’s… unexpected to say the least,” he said weakly.

“And! Wait, you didn’t hit somebody else did you?” Bill asked with a glare and Tom chuckled weakly. “Tom-“

“Someone claims to be pregnant with my child,” he said, and Bill frowned.

“What, again? This is like… the sixth time this year!” he said in confusion. “Why did David make you come for a meeting?” he asked.

Tom sighed. “Because… this time… well we’re pretty sure it is.”

Bill just stared, blood draining from his face. “WHAT?!” he cried in shock, and Tom nodded. “YOU GOT A GIRL PREGNANT?! Oh my GOD WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU-“

“Well let’s be honest, it’s not like it wouldn’t have happened eventually!” Tom interrupted. “I mean… I do sleep with a lot of women-“

“I ALWAYS THOUGHT IT WAS GROSS!” Bill shouted, then made a face. “Ew, you didn’t use a condom?! God you’re disgusting,” he said, and Tom sighed.

“Condoms do break occasionally, you know-“

“No I do not know because I don’t sleep with anybody who will let me put my dick in her! It’s never happened to me,” he said defensively, and Tom snorted.

“You’ve never-“ Bill shoved him, cutting him off.

“I am not a virgin, fuck you very much.” Bill sighed. “Why do you guys think this time she’s telling the truth?”

Tom sighed, closing his eyes. “You won’t like this part,” he said, and Bill frowned.

“It isn’t that really pretty girl I was talking to that you stole, is it? I swear, I’ll kick you-“

“Does the name Andrej Pejic ring any bells?” Tom asked, and Bill was silent. Tom opened his eyes and Bill was giving him a confused look.

“Well… yes, he’s a male model. I got turned down for a shoot I offered to do because of him,” he said, pouting.

Tom nodded. “Yeah… only not exactly clear on the ‘male’ part of model,” he said, and Bill gave him a confused look. “Okay, so… we were in New York, there was a lot of alcohol, then I don’t remember anything but blurs of blond hair and pale skin, then I wake up to a naked Andrej Pejic freaking out on the other side of my bed-“

“NO!” Bill cried out, jaw hanging open. “He’s a man!”

Tom nodded. “I freaked out cause I slept with a boy, and then now it turns out, he wasn’t aware that he’s actually sort of girl on the inside, boy on the outside or something, and somehow… well, you can guess the rest-“

“YOU GOT ANDREJ PEJIC PREGNANT?!” Bill cried, hands going over his eyes. “Oh my God, our reputation is ruined. We’re just… ruined! You’re fucked and you fucked means I’m fucked too, oh my God, you slept with a man and now he’s pregnant-“ He stopped. “Maybe not! Maybe it’s not yours, let’s have him do a paternity test, maybe it’s wrong-“

Tom sighed. “If he’s telling the truth, and his hormonal rage did seem truthful, the only thing that paternity test is going to say is that it matches my DNA, so it was either me or you,” he said, and Bill made a face.

“Ew, I’d never fuck a man, especially one who looks like a girl,” he said, shuddering. “And why trust him? He probably wants even more attention, that little slut,” he said, grumbling.

Tom sighed. “Apparently, before I ‘got him drunk’- his words exactly- he was a virgin,” he said, and Bill snorted.

“HA, unlikely,” he said, and Tom shrugged.

“His tantrum seemed genuine. And he is pregnant, he showed his belly,” he said, and Bill shot him a look.

“Well damn, how long ago was this?” he asked, and Tom chuckled.

“Three months or so. Apparently, when you’re very skinny, you get fat faster, and he’s very thin,” he said. “He is thinner than you.”

Bill groaned. “Shit, what does he want?” he asked, and Tom shrugged.

“He claims he only wants me to pay his medical costs since he hasn’t been approved for health insurance since he’s not clearly a woman. And if he chooses to not give it up for adoption, he wants child support I guess.” Tom sighed. “No attention seeking, no blame pointing… he seems like he’s swallowing his pride just asking for this much.”

Bill snorted. “For now, little bitch-“

“Bill, getting angry doesn’t help,” Tom said, sighing. “Fuck, I don’t know what to do,” he said weakly.

Bill shrugged. “Not your problem. Takes two to fuck, you didn’t do it without his part-“

“Only it works both ways, Bill,” Tom said, shaking his head. “I feel bad,” he admitted.

Bill frowned. “Why? He’s not the one who has to worry about it all getting out and ruining his career-“

“No, he’s pretty much already fucked for that, Bill,” Tom said darkly. “I feel bad because the guy clearly has it rough- he wants money for his medical bills for fucks sake, not even hush money- and he’s a model. You really think he’ll be a model after what being pregnant will do to his body?” he asked and Bill cringed.

“Ew, probably not-“

“Exactly, I’ve ruined some famous supermodel’s life. I mean, it isn’t just my fault, I’m with you there, but I don’t exactly have half as much to lose here. I’m still a little skeptical and I’m very confused, but I still can’t help feeling bad,” he admitted. He sighed. “And oh my God, it’s a child! It isn’t just me and the ruined model, there’s a fucking baby with my DNA out there, Bill! Oh my God I am not ready to handle this, I mean… it’s a BABY!” he stressed.

Bill shrugged. “Again, not you problem.” He stood up. “Look, you feel bad, I get it, but it is not your problem. It’s not your kid just because it has your DNA, it’s his problem and you can pay him off and shut him up-“

Tom stood up to follow him. “Bill, I understand you have a very narrow view of the world, especially the parts that don’t involve you, but unlike you, I fully understand this situation. I can deny it all I want, I can pay him off and shut him up, but nothing will erase the fact that I’m always gonna know forever that somewhere out there, I’ve got a kid!” he stressed. “I don’t have to ever have any bearing on its life, I can pay Andrej Pejic money now and then never contact him again, but nothing will ever really make it go away that I’m a father now, Bill! I can ignore it, I can pretend it’s not real, but somewhere out there, there will always be a person with my blood in their veins. Nothing can make that completely go away, Bill. No amount of denial changes that as of today, I will forever have the knowledge that I’ve got a child.” He shook his head. “A child, Bill! Same for him! Even if he gives it up for adoption, he’ll always know somewhere out there, he has a child too. I can’t undo this. He can’t either. Nobody can undo it no matter what-“

Bill just shut him up with a look. “It’s not that serious, Tom. Drink your beer and go do something. It’s a shock now, but you pay him off and within a month you’ll barely remember the name Andrej Pejic,” he said simply.

Tom just sighed, turning to leave. “You just don’t get it, Bill.”

Tom felt sort of silly for contacting Andrej directly, he didn’t want to give the wrong impression or upset the model any more, but he wanted information and had a feeling Andrej didn’t like David very much after the first meeting. He was surprised when Andrej agreed to meet him for lunch to talk things over, but he took what he could get. He went alone, without a bodyguard or Bill, and prayed Andrej didn’t randomly decide to kill him in a pregnant rage.

When he pulled up and handed over his keys to the valet, he raised an eyebrow as he spotted Andrej walking up from the sidewalk. “You walked here?” Tom asked, and Andrej shrugged.

“Took a car from the hotel to a few blocks away, then got out and let my roommate go shopping,” he said, shrugging. “I’m pregnant, not disabled,” he said flatly. “I can still walk, smartass.”

Tom shrugged. “I don’t know what’s healthy for a pregnant person, hell, I’d imagine walking would suck with the extra weight-“

“If you call me fat, I will castrate you,” Andrej said with narrowed eyes, turning to head into the restaurant ahead of Tom. Tom had them seated and smiled nervously across the table at Andrej, who thanked the woman who seated them with a smile before sighing as he went to take off his jacket. “Thank God it’ll be cool enough for most of this I can wear a coat and hide my belly when it gets bigger,” he said, hiding it as it was with a loose top. “So,” he started, crossing his arms on the table expectantly. “What do you want?” he asked.

Tom cleared his throat. “I still want proof… but I believe you,” he said, and Andrej held up a hand.

“Well that’s nice to know, so what’re you going to do about it?” he asked, tossing his hair back.

Tom sighed. “Give you money, I guess. I mean… I’m not gonna just hand over a bunch of cash, but I’ll see that your bills are paid,” he said, giving him a look. “I know too well what some models are into,” he said, and Andrej scoffed.

“I’m not going to take your money and blow it on cocaine if that’s what you’re suggesting,” Andrej said, chuckling. “I’m not like that,” he said, and Tom eyed him.

“I’d hope not, you’re pregnant, but it happens, I’m sure. If I’m giving you money to pay medical bills, I want to know what it’s going to.”

Andrej nodded. “That’s all I ask,” he said, then sat back, sighing. “Look, I don’t like having to do this. I’m a model, not a millionaire. Giselle Bundchen may be rich, but most of us are barely breaking even,” he said simply. “It’s a blow to my pride to take your money, but the way I see it, I’m stuck with this thing at least for the next six months, so I may as well actually go to the doctor so I don’t die in the process of having this in me,” he said, gesturing downwards towards his belly.

Tom nodded. “Well... it isn’t just your fault so I may as well pay your bills,” he said, and Andrej smiled gratefully.

“Thanks,” he said, only to be interrupted as the waitress came to get their drink orders.

After they had ordered, Tom cleared his throat. “So… what- I mean, if you don’t mind me asking, what’s going to happen… well, you know,” he said, and Andrej shrugged.

“I’m… not sure,” he said, looking down. “I haven’t told anyone yet. My mum… she’ll be really upset at me when I tell her. I told only my agent and roommate,” he said softly. “I figure adoption, but… eventually I have to tell my family and friends and it will be awkward if I do that and then give it up for adoption. I mean… do they all just pretend I wasn’t pregnant?” he asked, sighing. “Odds are, my mum, if she doesn’t kill me first, is going to want me to keep it and I’m not sure how I feel about that now. She’ll want her grandchild in her life, so there’s the chance of basically just… giving it to her to raise and continue with my life and like… send cards occasionally or something,” he said softly. “I’m just not sure. I’m only twenty,” he added with a distant look, staring into his water glass.

Tom saw the bags under his eyes and clearly saw how frail he was, and couldn’t help but feel bad. “What… I mean… do you think you’ll decide soon?” he asked curiously. Andrej shot him a confused look. “Look, I am not trying to pry, I just can’t help curiosity.” Andrej hesitated and Tom bit his lip. “Do you want to keep it at all?” he asked, and Andrej shrugged weakly.

“I’ve… thought about it a time or two,” he admitted. “I mean, it’s always fun to imagine buying all these tiny little outfits, and holding a tiny little baby in your arms,” he allowed, smiling a much softer smile than Tom had ever seen. “But it’s not all just that stuff, is it? There’s so much work that goes into being a parent. And I’m twenty. I’m at the top of my career. I want so badly to wake up from this nightmare and go do a photo shoot, but I’m not,” he all but whispered, drawing shapes in the condensation on his glass. “Honestly, I’ve mostly been doing my best to ignore it,” he admitted.

Tom nodded. “Only… you can’t ignore it forever,” he said, and Andrej nodded.

“Not like you can,” he said, giving Tom a small shrug.

Tom gave him a considering look, then chuckled. “I can’t ignore it either, if I’m honest,” he said, shaking his head. “It’s absurd, but I can’t stop thinking that, even if I pretend it never happened, nothing will ever stop the knowledge there’s going to be a person out there somewhere with my DNA.”

Andrej nodded blankly, staring at his glass. “Heavy shit, huh?”

When they left, Tom offered Andrej a ride back to his hotel, and Andrej was too tired to argue. When Tom went to get the valet to go get his car, he turned back to tell Andrej it would be a moment, only to feel an unusual sense of horror when he spotted Andrej standing off a ways away from the doors so no one would shout at him, smoking a cigarette. “What are you doing?!” Tom asked, eyes wide as he approached the model.

Andrej raised an eyebrow, flicking ash off the end of the cigarette. “What? This?” he asked, holding it up.

Tom nodded. “Isn’t it bad to smoke when you’re pregnant?!” he asked, and Andrej glowered.

“Say it a little louder, why don’t you?” he asked, taking another drag. “Look, I’m suffering enough as it is, I sure as hell can’t handle going through pregnancy and the process of quitting smoking,” he argued. “Besides, it’s not your problem-“

Tom couldn’t explain why he was so worried about Andrej smoking, but he couldn’t stop himself from reaching out and plucking the cigarette from the model’s fingers, dropping it to stamp it out before he could take it back. “I’m going to be paying for your medical bills, the least you can do is not make it worse,” he said, ignoring Andrej’s arguments as he turned and headed back to get the car. “If you want a ride, come on,” he said, worried for a moment the pregnant man would refuse the ride now.

However, when Andrej slid into the car, he glared. “The only reason I didn’t punch you back there is because I’m in public and ladies don’t punch people,” he said and Tom chuckled.

“You hit like a girl, so it doesn’t matter either way,” he said, and Andrej growled.

“I can’t believe you wasted a cigarette-“

“I can’t believe you expect me to pay your medical bills when you clearly pay no attention to what every doctor in the world will ever say about pregnancy and smoking and how I’ll end up paying even more bills in the future when you give birth to a retarded baby after you deprived it of oxygen, just for a cigarette-“

“FINE!” Andrej snapped, grumbling. “I’ll quit smoking, but because I want to, not because you say so,” he said defiantly, which made Tom chuckle.

“Whatever you say, bitch.”
