Previous Chapters Bob and Patrick came into the studio and Bob looked for everybody. “Guys, what do I need to do? I’ve got to leave in an hour.” He said, and Mikey looked up.
“Where are you going?” he asked.
Gerard came in, smiling as he held a baby in his arms. “Hello bitches!” he said, grinning.
Ray frowned. “Why do you curse in front of her?!” he asked, stealing Bandit from Gerard and taking her over to sit between his legs as he let her poke at his guitar.
Patrick snickered. “Someone needs to give that guy a baby.” He said, and Bob nodded.
“Maybe we can find one on the black market and give it to him for Christmas?” he asked, and Patrick nodded, snickering.
“Gee, Ray, Bob says he’s leaving in an hour.” Mikey said. “And Frank’s not back from the coffee shop yet.” He said.
They looked at Bob expectantly. He smiled. “Baby doctor.” He said, and Patrick nodded, sitting down on the couch as Bob headed over to the sound board. “Patrick’s getting all fat and pretty.” He said, smiling.
Patrick sighed. “I am.” He said, pulling his shirt tight to show how his stomach was rounding slightly.
Mikey frowned. “Bob, why are you going?” He asked.
Bob snorted. “Uh, because I’m a kind and caring partner and I want to know how both my babies are.” He said, smiling at Patrick, who rolled his eyes and mouthed ‘dork’ at him.
Gerard snickered. “Ah, and when can we expect the wedding?” he asked, and they both shot him birds. “Well, you obviously are good for each other.” he said.
Patrick smirked. “He’s a great lover, I’ll give him that much.” He said, winking at Gerard. “Really, REALLY good at sex.” He said, nodding. “I should marry him for my future sex life!” he said, grinning.
Mikey looked horrified. “You don’t… you know… do it anymore, do you?” he asked.
Everybody looked at him like he was crazy. “Why would I not want to?” Patrick asked. “I’m FINALLY not sick all the time, even if I did throw up once this week! Hell, I went three MONTHS without sex.” He said.
Bob snorted, not even shy. “Holy shit, dude! Abstain for three months and WOW… the sex is amazing.” He said, nodding.
Patrick smirked. “Best sex I ever had. Early in the morning, too.” He said, smiling. “And it’s STILL amazing.” He said.
Gerard snickered. “Nah dude, its pregnancy.” He informed him. “In all the books it says the second trimester makes mommy happy, and from my own experience….” He giggled, blushing. “Mommy REALLY likes sex in the second trimester.” He said, smiling. “Something about more blood in your body and higher sensitivity or something.” He said. “And most of the time, daddy thinks the woman they love is the most beautiful thing ever when she’s pregnant.” He said.
Bob nodded with a serious look on his face. “Patrick’ s always been beautiful, but dude… now it’s not just me. EVERYBODY keeps seeing Patrick and going ‘wow, what’re you doing to be so fair skinned, and soft haired, and young looking’ and the truth of it is, all the hormones my mom gave him, on top of how his renewed beauty is personal for me because he’s carrying my baby.” He said, then smiled at Patrick, who mouthed ‘I love you’ to Bob, who mouthed it back.

Dr. Reed took Patrick’s temperature, pulse rate, and blood pressure. She also drew some blood to check his hormone levels.
“Alright, we don’t usually do this for a few more weeks, but let’s take another look.” She said, leading them to the room with the ultrasound equipment. Patrick smiled as she laughed at his ‘belt without button’ rig. “Inventive. But they actually make something for that.” She said. “It’s basically a wrap you put around your belly that has little clasps to hold your buttons and hide yourself down there when they pull apart.” She said.
Patrick smiled. “Remind me to look into that, Bob.” He said, and Bob nodded, smiling from his side. “So… how’s it look?” he asked anxiously, trying to figure out what was on the screen.
She smiled. “All looks fine. Let me get the Doppler and let you hear its heartbeat.” She said, and Bob smiled his happy smile at Patrick, who just grinned at him, squeezing his hand. They sat patiently, and when the soft, fast thudding of their baby’s heart filled the room, Bob was amazed. Patrick had tears in his eyes. “Sounds healthy.” She said, smiling at them. Patrick just grinned, looking over at Bob, who kissed him sweetly. “Alright, so the baby is probably about three inches long now, which is normal.” She said, facing them. “Now, you’ve probably started having some pains around the sides of your stomach.” She said, and he nodded.
“Yeah, like, if I stand up or something. It really hurts, but it goes away so I figured it wasn’t anything bad?” he said, looking worried.
She smiled and shook her head. “No. Just your muscles trying to adjust to having something in there.” She said. “So, how’s the morning sickness been?” she asked.
He groaned happily. “The medicine is amazing!” he said, looking grateful. “I’m probably down to where I MIGHT feel a LITTLE queasy when I first get up, and I take a pill if I need it, but otherwise, I’m great.” He said. “I’ve just… felt so much better the last few days.” He said.
She smiled. “Enjoy it, it only lasts another few months.” She said, and he just smiled. “How have you been emotionally?” she asked.
Bob snorted. “Hyper and weird.” He supplied for Patrick, who just smiled and poked him in the side. “He’s been so tired and sick the last few weeks, but then the last week or so he’s all wanting to do stuff and randomly getting all happy.” He said.
She laughed. “Don’t complain, I was worried he was being moody.” She said, and Patrick smiled.
“I haven’t been, but I’m sure I’ll be more moody when I’m extremely pregnant.” He said. He smiled. “I just… there’s no reason NOT to be happy and want to do things!” he said. “I mean, I feel SO much better and I know I won’t be able to go out much before too long, so I want to do things while I can.” He smiled. “And I’m so happy because I’m starting to really, really love my baby.” He said, rubbing his still nearly flat, but slightly rounded belly.
Dr. Reed just smiled. “That’s good. And it’s good you two are doing so much together.” She said. “A lot of unplanned pregnancies leave tension between the parents.” She said. She looked at Bob. “And some expecting fathers don’t exactly like having some moody, hormonal, fat person on their hands.” She said.
Bob just blushed. “Hey, he’s not that moody, and he isn’t fat.” He said, and Patrick snorted.
“I am fat, Bob. I’m going to get fatter. Stop trying to make me feel better.” He said, and Bob just kissed his hand. “You see what I have to put up with? He’s too fucking perfect.” Patrick joked, winking at the doctor who smiled at them.
She smiled. “So you’re not moody, but are you having bad hormone swings?” she asked. “I mean do you get really hot and then the next minute your cold?” she asked. “Or more hormonal mood changes that aren’t really you being moody, but like… things like getting extra angry at little things gone wrong?” she asked.
Patrick flushed. “Um… Well I’m hot all of the time, but I’ve always been that way, really.” He said. “And… uh… the only hormone problems I’m having is the ones making me into a teenager again.” He said, looking bashful. “I swear it’s like puberty.” He said.
She smiled knowingly. “Libido’s coming back?” she asked, and he nodded. “Not unusual at all. I mean, some women don’t have those hormones, or possibly they do but are too self-conscious to have sex.” She said. “BUT, most moms around the second trimester are interested in sex again. Sometimes dad is into that.” She said. “A lot of the time, when the dad doesn’t want to have sex, it’s usually because he’s scared of hurting the baby or scared the mom will be uncomfortable. However, some guys just don’t find it attractive when his lady is pregnant.” She said.
Patrick rolled his eyes and Bob snorted. “Ask him what the most beautiful thing about me is.” Patrick said, eyes rolling and voice full of sarcasm. Bob just ducked his head bashfully.
“Patrick, shut up.” He said playfully.
Patrick just smiled. “He told me that me being pregnant is the sexiest thing he’s ever seen.” He said, and Bob was bright red.
Dr. Reed just smiled. “You guys are a great couple. I see plenty of happy parents, but sometimes I see plenty of single pregnant women, or pregnant ladies whose husband doesn’t really care.” She said.
Bob shrugged. “I kinda meant it as a permanent thing when we started getting serious, way long ago, and I mean… this doesn’t change anything.” He said honestly.
She smiled. “How long have you guys been together?” she asked.
Patrick snickered. “Long time. Coming close to three years now.” He said. “Like…. Two years and seven months.” He said. “We didn’t move in together until April, but that was mainly because we didn’t have a reason.” He said, shrugging.
She smiled. “It’s great. So you’ve got a home together already? That’s better for the baby.” She said. “Having both parents will be good for it.” She said.
Patrick smiled. “Well, we have two homes, but they’re both ours, not like he has one and I have one.” He said. “We have a home here and then our real home in Chicago.” He said. “We have a house there and an apartment here.” He said. “So yeah… we’re mostly ready for the little jelly bean.” He said, smiling. “Well, not READY but nothing major, like finding a home, and we’re pretty financially stable. And I’m not doing work for a while so childcare isn’t going to be too bad.” He said. “We’ve just gotta get through this pregnancy and figure out this ‘parent’ thing.” He said, cringing.
She smiled. “Well, you’re both going to have a lot of work, but a lot of the time it comes pretty naturally to people who are prepared.” She said, and they just smiled at each other.
“I sure hope so.” Bob said, kissing Patrick’s hand.

Week 14:
When Bob finished recording his parts for one song, he came out to find Patrick sitting there talking to Gerard. “Hey.” He said, smiling as he walked over.
Patrick smiled, pulling him down beside him. Patrick kissed him softly. “You look good.” He said, grinning at Bob, who smiled widely at him.
“You, too. You’re all, glowy.” Bob said, smiling as he kissed Patrick again. “So, to what do I owe the pleasure of your visit?” he asked, taking a sip of his water.
Patrick smirked. “You get the task of explaining to my mother why I’m pregnant when she gets here day after tomorrow.” He said, and Bob spewed, choking and turning funny colors. “Your mother did this to me, and you helped. It is no part of mine.” He said, smiling smugly.
Mikey looked up. “Well, you did have sex with him.” He said. “You got just as much sex out of the deal as he did, unless Bob really sucks at sex.” He said, and Bob huffed.
Patrick smirked. “Actually, I think we had sex and I got a blowjob later that night, so I technically got more, BUT I’m also the one who is pregnant.” He said. “No amount of orgasms will ever make up for all the times I puked, or how fat I’m gonna get, or the heartburn I have nearly daily, or the fact I have this unexplainable urge to ‘feel pretty’.” He said, cringing.
Gerard smiled. “Aww, you are pretty.” He said, and Patrick smiled a little too wide for his own personal taste. It made him feel girly.
“No I mean like… I catch myself looking at my reflection just staring at my face like I expect to suddenly be beautiful, or like…” he cringed. “I literally wondered out loud, and I’m GLAD I was alone…. If my ass looked fat in these jeans.” He said, shuddering. “I’m officially becoming my mom!” he said, faking tears.
Bob just rolled his eyes. “Your ass looks hot in those jeans, and you couldn’t get more beautiful.” He said, looking at his wide blue-green eyes. Patrick looked like he was trying not to feel pleased at Bob’s praise. “If you got any more beautiful, I’d feel all unworthy to be your lover.” He said. Patrick just smiled but leaned into him slightly.
Gerard looked like he was the only one who understood that Bob really meant it.
