Drunken Slurs
Danny sighs as Jackson leans into his side. It wasn’t the first time he's received a call to come pick up the other teen and it wouldn’t be the last. Like the loyal best friend he is, he comes and shakes off any help. He knows how to manage Jackson when he’s as intoxicated as he is.
“Yo Danny,” Jackson fails to whistle properly, his hand gripping the front of Danny’s shirt, “I ever tell you how much I love you?”
Again Danny sighs, rolling his eyes, “every time I have to drag your ass back home.”
Jackson giggles, his body getting heavier as they make their way to Danny’s car. “I mean it though. You’re the only one who really gives a shit about me.”
Danny tries his best to make out the slurred words, “Jackson, you have the whole school eating out of the palm of your hand.”
“Nope,” Jackson pops the ‘p’ as Danny struggles with opening the passenger door, “everyone’s just afraid of my dad. It’s nothing to do with me. Nothing. You. You’ve liked me from day one. Just me. Not my dad’s money. Not my name. Just me.”
“Jacks,” Danny starts, making sure his best friend is safely in place. Danny shakes his head, deciding it best to not instigate Jackson’s drunken babble. It only makes things hurt. He moves away only for Jackson’s hand to shoot out. He’s pulled down and Jackson’s lips are pressed sloppily against his. But as quickly as it began it’s over. Jackson let’s him go and he’s staring into sleepy blue eyes.
“I really do love you,” the drunken teen slurs.
When morning comes and Danny feels Jackson’s arms tighten around his waist and draws him closer, he fights back a smile.
