Tears Lost
She smiled up at the face that hovered just above her. The smile was forced in hopes of easing the pain visible on the mans' face.
"I'm okay...Everything is okay."
The brown haired man shook his head; "I failed you, Sharpay. How could you say that? I...I couldn't protect you."
The blonde tried to move and the older man instantly reached out for her but he just couldn't seem to touch her. She could just make out some of the other X-Men crowded around but left enough distance so she and Scott could have a moment. Everyone's expression was grim. Ryan stepped out from the gathering crowd, tears already falling from his eyes as he stood behind Scott.
"I'm sorry," she whispered, staring into his eyes through his visor, "I should have fought harder but..." she trailed off coughing a stray of blood at her side.
Scott's face was worn, tear leaking from beneath the visor. She reached up gently touching the side of his face. He responded instantly, covering her small hand with his much larger one.
"At least I went out in style" she tried to giggle, "I love you," her voice was growing weaker and her eyes sliding shut.
Scott choked on sob; "I love you too, princess."
The smile on her face grew as her eyes finally shut. Her chest rose one final time but rose no more. The blondes' tiny hand slide from underneath his with a soft thud on the ground.
All was silent for another moment until Ryan's sob broke through the air. The blonde haired teen instantly fell on his knees and wrapped his arms around the dead body of his sister. At the sight of his son, Scott's own sobs sounded taking both into his arms.
The X-men could do nothing more then watch their team leader as he grieved with his son over the lost of his daughter.
End.
